I have heard of doctors starting to charge a yearly fee or something in place of insurance. It covers pretty much all the basics you would go to a PCP for. I saw it on TV. I didn't pay too much attention so I don't know the details. Maybe this doc. was doing something like that? It just seems weird.
It's possible. She said he had two plans, I can't remember what they were, and didn't write down. I was just so confused since I've never heard of it. If it was on top of insurance, then that is crazy pants. It's like doctors for rich people that can afford it so they can get the most attention. But that is so fucked up if that's the case.

Yes that's pretty much what it is. It's kind of like a retainer, but it is supposed to be a "luxury" type service.

Our old neighbors listed their house yesterday and got multiple offers and accepted one over asking price in less than 24 hours. I'm so happy for them, but part of me is like "damn, I bet we could have gotten more for our house." LOL Their house is nearly identical to ours and they listed it for higher than we did and in the end sold for about $9K more. They did have a bigger yard though.
Am I the only one that doesn't mind a traveling H? Maybe that'll change once #2 is here, but now, stay out as long as you need. I like not having to cook for you and being able to do whatever without having to consider him.
Maybe it doesn't mess up your routine as much because you stay home with A. The part that's difficult for me when H travels is doing DC drop off, when normally he does it. Because I have to be at work by 7:30am. H goes in a little later so he can leave the house at 7 and do drop off. I would have to leave home at like 6:30 to make it to work on time.
That's exactly it -- we run a well oiled machine over here and when one piece is missing it screws us up. Like the dishes need to be loaded and unloaed, laundry needs to be folded. We just work as a team on alot of the stuff here and doing it solo is difficult. You may just be super woman lol sstwinklinglites,
Question...I'm trying to find a new pcp. First place I called said they have a yearly physician fee of $1,000/year. I'm so confused, what is this?!?! Someone please inform me bc I was so baffled I didn't even know what questions to ask after that.
Solo with one was doable for me. I used to take off every other Friday just to have him by myself a whole day. With two I make H take off in anticipation of a holiday where I will have both alone because literally I die.
Wow. I just don't get it. So I have to pay a yearly fee on top of insurance just to get good service?!?!
I'm really struggling with this concept ... I prefer a PCP personally so I hope this doesn't happen at my office eeek -- please tell me vlagroupie, this wasn't my PCP ...
I would be like "well it might be common but no thanks I'll keep looking" would be my response. I've always been able to get in same day sick at my pcp. They have 4 docs so if mine isn't available, one of the others is.

No it wasn't. I was calling for H actually and he wanted to go to a male doc.

true I guess A by herself before being preggo and potty training wasn't that difficult -- more annoying. Two is going to drive me to drink more often because I know with both our careers there will always be overnight travel as we move up --- ugh --- worse case I'll pay our neighborhood sitter to help after school a few hours if that happens. Why did I want two kids lol

It gets better with two, I promise. It's so hard when you have to carry one all the time and have to also lug around a diaper bag, milk, 5 diapers, backup outfit. When they can both walk and no longer blow out of diapers, it's so much easier.

Lol at driving to drink more. My neighbor has 4 kids and doesn't drink alcohol, I don't know how she gets through her day lol.

This is happening in our old neighborhood too. Stuff is flying off the market for $7-$9K over asking price
