Advice needed: So last night I noticed a spider and had MH kill it, then I notice another on the ceiling and he kills that one too, not before dropping it and exclaiming, "OH SH*T!!!!" as if it's about to attack him or something. (His reaction to minor things is always more over the top then it needs to be) Well the kids are witness to this, but neither of us thought anything of it. Well a little while later he's giving them a bath while I unpack their bag from our trip in another room and I hear another "oh sh*t!" and then a LOT of screaming from the twins. There was a spider in the tub and because he freaked all out they are losing their minds, shaking like leaves when I get there, and refuse to finish their bath. L cried off and on about the "spy-da" the rest of the evening, despite us explaining that it was all gone. We hoped she'd just forget about it overnight but the first words out of her mouth this morning was "spy-da in baffroom." Sigh.Has anyone else dealt with newly formed fears and can give me advice on how to proceed? I'm worried this incident is going to ruin the fun of bath time for them and/or cause her, specifically, to refuse them. Obviously I intend to continue to reassure her it's not there anymore and explain that she is safe, but any other tips/tricks are appreciated.
I usually just sort of narrate the story for him. "Yes, a goose bit your knee and then a bird landed on your hat. It was scary. But there are no birds here now." (Then I turn my face away and roll my eyes)
