Which one did you go with? We got one of the first aide/safety kits from target with the nail clippers and all those goodies. It has a thermometer with it but I'm not sure how accurate it is. When he had his rash I was taking his temp and the highest I got was 98.5 and when we got to the doctors it was 99.6. I know that's not a huge difference but if he was running a fever this could be the difference in taking him in our not.
We have the safety first one as well. The couple times we have taken her temp, it stops at 97.9. We have also questioned the accuracy because of this. She can't have the same temp all the time, or that low, can she?
I discarded our safety first bec the temp remains the same and when I compared it to a normal thermometer it was off by a degree which is of course a big deal
I have a Vicks rectal thermometer. I also have a braun forehead thermometer which is more finicky, but nice for my toddler.
Same here. Rectal is the most accurate, which is important for little babies. I like that the Vicks one is foolproof (it's short so you don't have to worry about going too far).
We have one from the hospital and the braun ear thermometer. When we were last at the pediatrician, they used an ear thermometer, which I thought we had to wait until he was older to start using. The nurse said we can use the ear and then validate with the rectal if it looks like he has a fever. The rectal one we have was given to us by the hospital when we were discharged.

Braun thermoscan, also safety first rectal thermometer. If I question the ear thermometer it's double check with the rectal. Both have worked great and lined up fairly well with the doctors. Edit: because my typing sucks in the morning.
