A friend of mine is 32wks, due June 20. Her water broke yesterday. They are keeping her in the hospital, hoping to make it to 34wks. They have already started steroids and antibiotics. She and her husband have a 2yr old son as well.
Fx for her and her baby!! This recently happened to a friend of mine at 30, but made it to 34. Whatever they did worked for her and baby was healthy when she arrived. I hope they can give those steroids a lot of time to work!

Thinking about your friend ssm luckily they have crossed the 32 week mark for lung function but this must be very scary. FWIW, I closely know 4 kids of different friends all born at 33weeks or earlier and there's is absolutely no difference today. That early NICU time can be really tough though especially with an older child. Every day inside helps!
Everything relating to carrying a child is so fragile and out of our control sometimes. I really feel for your friend.
Medicine is amazing these days. I'm trying to figure out how they can stop labor once the water breaks and stave it off for weeks. Isn't that amniotic fluid?
Yeah weirdly they can stay that way for a while without fluid. It's not ideal and it can increase the risk of infection hence the antibiotics.

weirder....I heard they told her the baby can make more amniotic fluid?
They do have her on iv fluids and mostly bed rest to help. I know iv fluids can increase amniotic fluid some. So maybe between the baby and the iv, she may get plenty more fluids.
