Talk to me about balance bikes.... thinking I want to get one for DS. What's the best age to start using one? Or is it more about height? Any brands recommended?
I got it for my son when he turned 2. He didn't show an interest in it until he was about 2 1/2. Probably a height issue as well. But then within a few weeks, he became an expert. I couldn't believe how quickly he learned. He was fully balancing it, steering, stopping, etc. Everything. It was awesome. The bike recently broke and I decided to get him an actual bike. He's 3 1/2 now. He's not used to pedaling yet but it's a two wheeler and he's balancing Great on it. I highly recommend it.
I think my D's bike is a Zum? I know it has two different heights. She really enjoys it, but she almost seems too tall for the bigger height setting already (she just turned 3 and is pretty tall for her age).

We have a strider bike. My parents bought it for DS1 when he was about 18 months, which was a little young for it. He did much better with it by 2.5. We don't use it a ton bc we don't really have anywhere for hints ride it, but it's a really great toy!

We just got a strider bike second hand for M. She is young for it but loves bikes and likes to hold onto it and straddle it. It has a great height range and she is tall so it seems like it already fits her and I figure she can get used to it now and grow into riding it.
