How's everything going? Slowly better but still not where I imagined our BFing journey would be.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? Is it normal to have supply fluctuate on a day to day basis? Some days my pumping output can vary from 3-4 oz now.
We are mostly pumping not by choice. I wish the EPing board was busier.
DS has been better at feeding from the breast occasionally. Mostly when he is relaxed and sleepy so early mornings and motn. I am happy for that and enjoy the nursing sessions when they happen. But he is still hungry after those sessions.
1-3mo: Getting through growth spurts okay? Yep. He seems to randomly get colicky for a couple days then goes back to normal. I'm assuming it's a growth spurt happening. He eats alot on those days as well.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH?
My pumping output has been improving and is almost matching his demand most days. He gets about 2-3 oz of formula a day which is alot less then when we started! I can pump 2-3 oz per session now and have cut out some motn sessions now that baby has been sleeping more at night. My supply has been improving by taking the max dose of domperidone, staying hydrated, and having a bowl of oatmeal with a tbsp of flax and brewers yeast. I've also been getting alot more sleep than at the beginning. I wish I could pump double what ive been getting so I can build a bit of stash and cut out for formal completely.
I'm on Mat Leave for another 10 months.
GTKY: what's a childhood memory you'd love to recreate with your kid(s) one day? Strawberry picking. I remember having such a good time and loves it when we did it every year.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? I have read about cutting a sports bra to make a hands free pumping bra. I'll need one for work, so while I'm home I figure I should make one. Is it just with a cheap basic sports bra? I'm pretty busty, so my sports bras are all "heavy duty/max impact" things and not cheap...
1-3mo:
Getting through growth spurts okay? We have had our first growth spurt! Certain brands of NB onesies and sleepers no longer fit! She majorly upped her feedings at that time. We seem to have found a new schedule.
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? I have a pump, but am not using it yet. I'm thinking of adding in 1 pump session a day so I can start to build a stash for August when I go back to work (teacher).
GTKY: what's a childhood memory you'd love to recreate with your kid(s) one day? My family's Christmas Eve traditions. None of my family lives in the same state as me, but it's important to me to still do it.
I cut holes in a cheap old target sports bra. If your bras are expensive, I'd just buy a pumping bra. I cut my holes too big and I don't see mine lasting very long.

How old is LO? 7 weeks
How's everything going? Fine. She is growing like a weed!
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? How long do cluster feeding stints last? For about 3 or 4 weeks DD has eaten nonstop from 6-10 every single night. I think my supply is too low in the evening and night because now at 2:55 am after 4 hours of sleep I did not feel full. She has only slept 6 hours 3 or 4 times and I just don't feel like my supply is adjusting to her needs. 1-3mo: Getting through growth spurts okay? Surviving
If you're pumping, how is that going? When are you returning to work, or are you SAH? Pump once a day for now. Going back to work next week.
GTKY: what's a childhood memory you'd love to recreate with your kid(s) one day? Disney world!
mikaela20 glad your pump output is improving! Many things can affect day to day output, or session to session output. You're already doing a lot to boost supply, but you can try adding in a power pumping session at the same time for a few days to see if that helps, if you haven't already tried. This mimics a cluster feed. Pump 20min (regular pump session), rest 10min, pump 10, rest 10, pump 10. You're doing great just as you are.
erinshelley21 cluster feeding differs child to child, but tends to slack off by 12-13 weeks as baby comes out of the "fourth trimester." At seven weeks, your supply is likely beginning to regulate, which is why you don't feel full. Remember fullness is not an accurate measurement of milk available to baby. You're looking for 6-7+ wet diapers in 24 hours to indicate LO has sufficient intake. Enjoy your last week of maternity leave!
Thanks lilyelayne! I tried power pumping one night at the session that was really getting low output. One hour later I pumped only 1 oz ! So frustrating. But maybe doing it every night might help.

lilyelayne I was afraid my lack of patience was the issue. I was going to start power pumping tonight and have DH give her a bottle around bedtime but I may hold off until I've been back at work a couple weeks so I can see what our new routine looks like.

Yeah power pumping, like cluster feeding, takes a few days to really ramp up supply. Frequent emptying of the breast is key. Power pumping / cluster feeding is a big signal to the body "more more more!"
How's everything going? Things are going well, had a one month weight check and she's gaining about an ounce a day.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? DD is becoming more alert now which means she loves looking at my face while she nurses until she falls asleep. It's one of my favourite parts of breastfeeding.
1-3mo: Getting through growth spurts okay? I'm struggling a bit with her current evening fussiness. She gets so worked up so fast that she swallows all sorts of air and needs to burp very frequently during feeds, which frustrates both of us. Hopefully this spurt will be over soon.
GTKY: We have a lot of Christmas traditions I'm looking forward to sharing as they get older.

Hiiiii
How old is LO? 2 weeks
How's everything going? Pretty good. Just feeding on demand.
Questions/concerns/cute stories to share? Questions about overactive letdown. DS gets sooo mad sometimes and swallows a ton of air. He's also difficult to burp. All of this leads to huge throw-up sessions. Is there anything I can do to help him?
0-1mo Is this your first experience with BF? No. I breastfed DD until 23.5 months
What is one reason why you want to BF? Health benefits/immunity
GTKY: what's a childhood memory you'd love to recreate with your kid(s) one day? Family vacations. Getting all packed up in the car & driving to some new exciting destination.
Nursing until letdown and then unlatching and letting the fast flow go into a burp rag / towel / cup, then relatching when it slows. May also be a good time to attempt a first burp.
