My parents wanted to watch the kids today instead of sending them to DC. And they also offered to take them overnight. It was nice getting up with my alarm and not having to get 2 kids ready. It was definitely quieter, but it was nice and not so rushed.
This is month of baby 2.0. Today is my first day off and I have a ton of organizing to do. First time in months I sprung out of bed at 6:15 with a smile on my face
My stepmom just picked up the toddler and I'm sipping coffee. Happiness.
I get sappy as well, I have to be honest and say I cried about 3 this week too but only because I'm so frustrated with this age... lol I don't want her to grow up but 4 can come right along...
I have no plans for today because the city inspector was supposed to come look at our furnace, but they wouldn't tell me what time until I called this morning. When I called they told me the permit was never processed. So the inspector is not coming, and this crap needs to be sorted out.
I'm not in the mood to do stuffed animal voices today
A meeting got cancelled and no one included me on the email or updated the meeting request. So I just walked back and forth to another building for no reason and looked like an idiot in the process. It's only for a project that I'm coordinating...

3 people brought babies to story time today. So much misuse on these car seats it's making me twitchy. I don't know any of the moms, so I don't feel comfortable saying anything.

Aftermarket insert, thick coats, loose straps, straps above shouldrrs, possible incorrect use of inserts that came with the seat. That's just on the 2 seats I can see. The third is on a table across the room and isn't facing me so I can't see into it.
I'm going to talk with the librarian about doing a car seat safety talk.

I think if you say upfront you are a registered car seat tech whatever you say next sounds less judgy and more from a position of knowledge

So yesterday I was pulling out my driveway and a couple were cycling down the street pulling a kids double trailer. Well, when they went past me, the 'kid' was at least 17 and easily over 200lbs squished into it, the wheels were caving inwards. And then they pulled out onto the main road then swerved across it in front of me to get to the sidewalk, no one was wearing a helmet. I don't know what the limit is on those trailers but i'm 100% sure it's less than 200lbs
Today is my mom's birthday and while I had thought about it a lot, we've been busy and I never actually did anything. Today I ordered an edible arrangement and sent a video of us, with Dd singing happy birthday to her. Doing the most.

Ugh, May Day in Seattle sucks. There are two big marches planned for today, which is fine as they are usually pretty peaceful. Then there are anti capitalism and anti fascism marches planned for the evening and those have a tendency to get violent. The big Starbucks Roastery right new my work has already boarded up. All of the main business downtown will board up. It's so dumb and dangerous. They are talking about sending us home early which would normally be great but Dh is at jury duty and then we need to pick up our car from the dealership which is on the other side of downtown.
The fun news is that today is the kids first day back with my mom. My parents were waiting outside for them when when arrived. Much excite.
Susan0utLoud also lt for being with your mom. Sorry for all the trouble with other things.
I miss our childhood may day tradition of making and giving out May baskets. Can't wait til the kids are old enough to do it
More baskets!!!
As a kid my sister and I used to be in the May Queen parade and dance around the May Poll then there would be big fete. I'm sad that won't happen anymore
lrmrtn , updated picture of the family for her room? A photobook of the family?
I've already done photo gifts for a number of holidays so I was trying to find something different but I'm stuck.
Her biggest interest is religion - she was very involved in her church before her health deteriorated. I was trying to look for a book on religion but I know nothing. Does anyone have any recommendations for any good books on Christianity or the Bible? Her only other interest was cooking but obviously that no longer applies. I got her an adult coloring book for Christmas so maybe I'll get her a new one. She was never easy to shop for before and is even harder now.

I'm at my brother's house helping with their kids for the next three days. Luckily the older ones go to school and then after care until 5 . So during the day I'm only in charge of DD and my littlest neice who is almost two.

What? Was the kid special needs, just wondering because I can't imagine any mature 17 old agreeing to get in there.

I have no idea, but even if she was that's no way to get around. The chariot was about to collapse

Does she like devotionals? Or more in depth study?

You could get her a daily devotional. If she's more traditional My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers is good. Some more modern ones are Jesus Calling by Sarah Young or Grace For the Moment by Max Lucado

Or there are subscription devotionals like Our Daily Bread and Encounter with God.

Is that a hard copy subscription? She does not do technology.
