We're getting BH a Trunki. It's kind of a functional gift, but LBB and my niece loved theirs, and poor second child has everything else he needs.
Other ideas: balance bike, dollhouse/firehouse/parking garage, shopping cart, "building materials" - duplo, mega blocks, bristleblocks, magnatiles, doctor/veterinary set, puzzles, stomp rocket
I'm terribly unhelpful with books. Right now BH's favorite is Corduroy's Easter. I will recommend Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes which is very useful during the toddler stage when they cry over the wrong color cup.
DH and I have a toys r us visit scheduled with our date night next week. So I have no idea what we will be getting C yet. I told the grandparents outdoor toys. In-laws are getting him soccer nets and a regular sized soccer ball. My mom is looking at balance bikes. Other outside toys/items on the list included a t-ball set, toy bubble mower, outside toy box, kiddie pool. We love flap books right now. And anything to do with choo choos or trucks (especially dump trucks.) good night good night construction site or mighty mighty construction site are top books.
It has basically allllll the outdoor toys, since we're lacking in that department, and outside is W's favorite place to be. So I've got a bubble mower, t-ball set, toddler sized basketball hoop, kiddie pool, sandbox, kid's outdoor camping chair, and a kid's gardening set on there. I also have a Paw Patrol tower/racetrack since he loves Paw Patrol, and a Melissa and Doug cleaning set since he likes to "help" while I do chores. I'm not sure what off there we or his grandparents will actually get him. He is 99.9% getting a swing set (though H thinks that shouldn't count as a birthday gift), and I'm fairly certain MIL is buying him a really nice table and chairs set from Land of Nod.
His absolute favorite book right now is H's old copy of Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things that Go. There's SO much to look at, we read it seriously at least twice a day. Otherwise, he's also really into any books with flaps or interactive things right now.
I think we're going to get G a balance bike, if she's tall enough. I need to look into it more. She likes to sit on the tricycle but can't reach the pedals, so I'm not sure if a balance bike will work for her yet or not. We were originally planning on a playhouse, but those are super expensive and we still have work to do on the backyard so I don't really want to decide on placement right now.
ETA: looked up the balance bikes and most say they're for 18months+ so I think we'll definitely get one for G
LO FLIES using his trike and his feet on the ground. So we are getting a balance bike (and helmet) as well, specifically this one because it has the option of 1 or 2 wheels in the back:
DS got the one below for his second birthday, but didn't get much of the hang of it until he was 3.5. It's a great bike and he still uses it, but I want to start a little easier for LO.
I am really unsure of what to get LO as well. We already have so.much.stuff. And we don't have sidewalks or a good neighborhood for bikes or motorized cars. Possibilities I am currently debating include:
new kids table and chairs? because the one we currently have is in pretty bad shape moon bounce for the backyard? unsure of how much money to invest in this playhouse for back yard? but leaning no on this one kids basketball hoop and/or bowling set sandbox? H was against this idea last year but might be persuaded this year step 2 ride on coaster? but leaning no on this one play teeter totter? but I think even as close as DD and LO are in weight, they might not be close enough remote control car? is that too sophisticated for a 2 year old? kids themed sprinkler?
We kind of save up to get them big outdoor stuff in the summer with their conveniently timed nice weather birthdays haha.
Just thinking of well loved things DS has gotten in the past or anything L is really into right now. Anything construction/digging/farming/dump trucks has always been a hit. We got him a tball set last year and L loves it this year. The Little Tikes lawnmower I swear is the greatest thing we were ever gifted. Good time to replace bath toys? Mega blox, Lego Duplo. Sidewalk chalk. L is in a huge baby/puppy phase and always needs to be taking care of something. DS got a sleeping bag and little camping light one year for our summer adventures.
A's Nana got him a wagon for his birthday (a little early). A loves it. A's Grammy is getting him a Kindle Fire for kids. DH and I have no idea what to get him though.
I'm planning a trike of some kind. That's kind of it in my plans.
stcyct, O loves all of Matthew Van Fleet's books. They're tactile and have lots of pull tabs. Now that he knows how to use the tabs he destroys the books a bit less. Dog is his favorite to the point that he reads it to himself with some sounds that I make and knows the end of the book.

We've been scoping out gifts and I think we are pretty set on this for her big gift.
We told the parents and friends gift cards for swim lessons because they are pricey but necessary in Texas. She's got plenty of clothes and small toys.
I have no idea. I might ask for experience gifts. Haha second child problems.
I love experience gifts for my only child also - I totally forgot, but last year MIL got us a zoo membership. I think I'm going to hint that renewing it for this year would be a lovely gift!
I never thought of doing an experience. I was worried about what to do for a big gift from DH and I but we just signed him up for swim lessons so I think that will do it!
