Hello EP board. Anyone around here anymore?
I think my 23 day old and I are going to be EP for the foreseeable future. I'm quite happy with what we have going right now but I'm struggling when it comes to juggling feeding her when I need to pump. She's a very lazy eater and she grazes. She will eat an ounce, sleep for 10 minutes, eat another ounce, stare at me for awhile.
Anyone have any tips? I made a handsfree pumping bra but I can't figure out how to actually hold/comfort her while I pump.
onesweetworld, I don't EP, but R used to be a lazy eater at the beginning and my LC said to do things to keep her awake. It's really common for newborns to fall asleep while eating. I would rub her arm, keep a damp cloth to wipe on her face to cool her off, take her clothes off to keep her cool.

Yeah I tried all of those things in the beginning, I guess I need to go back to them to work on getting her to eat at one sitting.
We are EPing because ds doesn't latch all the time and doesn't pull out enough milk. I also struggled with under supply at the beginning which started all of our issues.
I always struggle with the feeding while pumping too. The burping it the hardest part.
DS is 3 months old so has a bit of neck strength now. I prop him up with pillows beside me on the couch to feed him while I pump handsfree, then put him either over my shoulder or over both my knees on my lap tummy down to burp him.
Maybe an infant pillow would make it easy for you to do something similar?
The first couple months I had to pump onside at a time. When ds was sleepy, I would have him sleep on my chest and pick a side to pump. It takes longer of course but it made the feed/pump juggle easier.

We've been using the boppy or the bouncearoo and I'll feed her while I pump. Things are getting better. I'm trying not to stress over pumping every 3 or 4 hours on the dot and that helps. I'm pumping in the car too so that helps.

That's great! Glad to hear it's better. I know I'm the same about the schedule. I am less stressed when I don't worry about being on time.
