When I had more of a disposable income, I used either Moroccan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner or Oribe. I still use Oribe hairspray and conditioning spray. Agree with jsquaree, costs equals quality. I use the Suave version of Moroccan Oil and it's really not that terrible and it's also like 1/35 of the price which my wallet & husband love.
I have wavy hair and will only see one person at the spa I go to - it's a decent amount of money for a cut - $75; however, I haven't had a bad haircut in five years.
My hair also looks thick, but its fine. I have super wavy hair and it tangles so easily. I end up brushing it out of the shower for a solid 2 minutes - which is actually a long time. I used to use It's a Ten after getting out of the shower - now I use Oribe - www.oribe.com/index.php/products/view/50/foundation-mist/. I loved the Moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner. I noticed I could go longer between highlights and cuts when I used the product. Get a travel size of it and see if you like it - if you do, its more economical to buy the liter sized bottles (they go for about $50sh a liter).
