I felt DD was ready at 2, she's doing good, but I knew it could go either way and was okay with waiting if I had to.. I just wanted to make a nice 5 month cushion for regression situations and I had the time now so I figured I would at least try!
DS will be 2 this Friday and has no interest in the potty whatsoever. I usually PT my kids at 2 1/2 but I want to do it before the baby comes, so i'll probably start actively trying in July or August. I'm not looking forward to it!
Do you all use the little potty or a toilet attachment? My bathroom is small, and the last thing I want to do is add something in there taking up space.
I recently asked this question on DD's BMB and it varied. Some preferred the little potty because their little ones were nervous/scared to sit on the big one. Others preferred the seat attachment for the big potty to not have to clean a seat out. I've seen some small potties that have a removable seat that also goes on the big potty, so it's essentially both.

blackmamba and everyone else... thanks for the advice. She actually told H she needed to pee this morning so he took her and she did it. Daycare may have been asking her if she wants to go since they knew we were going to try potty training.
I'm going to ask her and if she tells me I'll take her but I'm going to hold off for a bit on more serious training.
We started DS with the little ikea potty. Cheap and small. Perfect for our tiny bathroom.
But then I quickly transitioned to him standing to pee in the big potty. He uses a stool and just leans forward. It is automatically aimed into the toilet. Super easy.
I'm I a bad mom if I want my son to pee sitting down for as long as possible? I already have to clean pee off the toilet for one adult with good hand-eye coordination, I can't imagine a 3 year old's aim and the mess that will create.
We have a little IKEA potty but I've been wondering if DS would show more interest if we got a seat attachment for the real toilet, since that would be more similar to what he sees mom and dad doing in the bathroom and he loves copying anything we do. Either way, definitely not pushing anything. He turned 2 in February.

a lot of moms do. I just didn't want to fool with having to retrain him how to pee later. And it is super helpful for public bathrooms. My nephew, he never used to pee standing up. When I had him out somewhere and needed him to pee standing up, he had a breakdown about it. Absolutely inconsolable at the thought of standing to pee. Personally, I do not have time for that. Just go pee. It isn't this complicated. Because DS leans forwards, he never gets pee except in the toilet. He touches his thighs to the rim and it goes in every time. Unless he tries to hold his penis, which we remind him that he can't do that or else he makes a mess and he just needs to pee. Which he rarely does anymore.

We got the toilet seats for the bathrooms the kids use that have the flip down insert. Much easier to clean and I figure we will have a number of years of potty trainers. I think we got them at Home Depot.
When we were training we also had some little potties around.
