sstwinklinglites, that sounds awful. And it is way too short notice. +1 to letting them know it better be a suite with a kitchen, or they're also going to need to pay for you to eat all your meals out.
Wtf sstwinklinglites that sounds awful. What a weird thing to do too, what could they possibly be doing to the stairs??
I think they're replacing them. They are in really bad condition and do need to be replaced. But they could have told us this was coming up a month ago and not just now.
sstwinklinglites That's rough, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Hopefully renovations don't take as long. Did they at least get you a hotel with a kitchenette or covering the cost of food?
I want to say yes, it's like one of those with multiple rooms, based on the hotels website (it's a Marriott), but I have to go up front and get all the paperwork from them and I'll know for sure. They are crediting our account $100/day for food expenses, which is really great as well. I guess I'm just bummed that it's happening right now while I'm packing the house and we'll be dealing with it on DS birthday.

That is awful timing but just tell him the hotel is a "vacation" for his birthday. Kids don't know. He will probably think it's so cool. Especially if there's a pool or a big bath tub.

sstwinklinglites, this exactly -- have a pool party at the hotel
Baby update- still hanging out at 1.5 cm. I'll be 37 weeks tmw. And have an induction planned for next thurs at 38 weeks. Even though this pregnancy was a ton harder than my pregnancy with DD, I'm really thankful and fortunate that it's been uneventful and they'll make it to full term. It will hopefully make BFing easier and allow us to go home right away.
Who here has been induced before? Can you share anything or any tips?

Yay! You're so close! I'm so excited for you!
Paging becole for advice on being induced. I think she's the most recent one to experience it.

You will check in to L&D and sign their forms, they will have a bed waiting for you (in the OR for you). The nurses will come in and start an IV and since you're dilated, my guess is they start you on a pit drip through your IV. Once contractions pick up, the OB may break your water. At any point in time you should be able to get your epidural. Then they'll just check you and up your pit or lower it as needed depending on how you are doing and the babies. At some point your body may take over and they will stop the pit. Literally there is no difference other than the medicine is making you have contractions rather than your body beginning it. Contractions can be more intense but if you plan on an epidural, you won't have to deal with that issue. If you weren't dilated, they may send you the night before for cervadil (a cream they put on your cervix to soften it). It's kinda nice that you know when it's coming if it's scheduled and can plan for that. In my case, I was told to be at the hospital at 9am, I had my baby at 4:30pm. That differs widely for people.

Why doesn't my child sleep anymore 😭😭😭 He's doing ok at night, but back to coming in our bed around 6am. He keeps taking cat naps and being fine and then staying up late, so I'm sure it's all snowballing
lindsay you do have options with methods of induction. Some will break your water and wait for contractions and only add pit if it's needed. Others will start pit. Since we go to the same practice, my guess is they will default to pit unless you have other wishes. You can/ should discuss this beforehand with your doctor. Also ask about how "favorable" your cervix appears for induction.

lindsay, that is our wedding anniversary a good day to have some babies! It's awesome that you can now tell yourself that in about a week they will be here!

lindsay good luck! Do you have someone that is going to watch DD? I was induced with E, and one of the nice things was that H and I knew when it was going to happen so could go on a date before we checked into L&D. I wasn't dilated so we had to do cervadil starting the night before. My hospital won't let you eat once you start pit, so make sure you eat something before you go. Since you're already at 1.5 hopefully things will progress pretty quickly!!

lindsay, Does this mean baby A? is head down and in a good position to deliver vaginally? I would eat the most glorious meal you can think of the night before. I know it will vary between hospitals, but you should be able to eat until they start the pit IV. I know they told me that I shouldn't eat or drink X hours before coming in, and once I was there my OB was like, "get this woman some breakfast, stat."
Don't be afraid to ask them to: 1. turn down/off your pit to see how things are going. 2. Empty your catheter (assumng you'll get an epi) 3. For wireless monitors so you can walk around (pre-epi), although I'm not sure how this changes being in an OR vs. reg room.
As always, trust your gut when they start asking you to make decisions.
becole thank for sharing, very helpful. The dr I saw today said pitocin is what they'd use. Right now, I'm just 1.5 cm- is that what you mean about how favorable my cervix appears?
chrispy1122 DD will go to the sitter during the day then stay with ILs at night.
Good point on the food, maybe we will do a big breakfast that morning! Mmmm...
mrscatfarmer13 yep A is head down and in position. B has her head in my ribs and is sideways, so hopefully she will flip during A's delivery. Otherwise, it will be a breech extraction for her unless there's some kind of problem that leads to a CS.
Planning to get the epidural as soon as I feel the pain. Since breech extraction is a strong possibility, NO thank you to feeling that stuff naturally. Plus I don't wanna be knocked out if there's an emergency CS. Andplusalso the epidural was amazing with DD LOL
I'll have to look into cervadil and ask about it, so far no one has mentioned it.

Yes, plus how "effaced" or thin your cervix is. If you're like 50% effaced, you're favorable. +1 to what mrscatfarmer13 shared about asking them to empty your bladder. You can also ask for them to put your legs on the peanut ball- that helped me progress.
*snip* As always, trust your gut when they start asking you to make decisions.
Hijacking your advice....What types of decisions might they ask you to make? I don't trust my gut to make decisions in that condition, so I need to make sure DH knows what I want before it happens.

I just meant regarding c/s, vacuum assist, forceps, episiotomy, and etc.

Mine asked me if I wanted to wait another hour for the CS or go then. I typically feel like I have no "gut feeling/ mama gut" etc, but I feel like in that moment I did and I was right.

Ah, ok. I remember being really annoyed when they wanted me to consent to the vacuum and forceps last time. And he was asking in the nicest/clearest/easiest way possible, like "I'm going to do this, IS THAT OK WITH YOU" and I was so confused like "You're the doctor, why are you asking me?"

They have to have consent as crazy as that sounds sometimes
