I have a lot of randoms on my mind right now.
Yesterday someone tried to scam me while I was at the gas station. He was pretty elaborate too. First he complimented my cute doggy. Then he said he worked for the hospital downtown, flashed his "badge" and mentioned something about volunteering for the VA. Then finally he says he forgot his wallet at home and is about to run out of gas. When I said no, he quickly sped off. Looking back I probably should have tried to get a picture of his license plate or something to report him but I didn't think about that in the moment.
Hi ladies! I'm trapped under a sleeping baby so thought I would check in.
We had another good night with D in the swaddle. I just tried to put her down with her arms free for a nap though and it was an almost immediate failure. I picked her back up and she actually fell back asleep; that's unusual for her so I know she's tired and I'd feel guilty trying to put her down again.
I'd really like to drink my coffee though. And I was supposed to be doing a workout.
That's really shady goldenlove3. What is wrong with people?
I hope your boys sync up their naps today for you waitwhat! Also, hosting brunch for 12? I'm not sure my husband would survive springing that on me 2 days before.
I'm in nap jail too. We are going to lunch at noon with some other moms today so I want E napping as late as possible so she isn't a cranky, tired mess as soon as we get there.
And H is coming home today from being in LA all week! Poor guy complained that he was tired this morning because he needed to wake up early for his flight. Umm, do not feel bad for you. You had a hotel bed, by yourself, with uninterrupted sleep for 4 days.
dashook You asked about this yesterday and I didn't respond. M was just like D. She slept great in the swaddle, but as soon as we got rid of it, she wouldn't sleep longer than 30-45 min. She didn't sleep better until I sleep trained her. The naps still sucked (only 45min) but I didn't have to hold her for them. From the first night we started the sleep training, she slept through the night. I know that result will not happen for everyone and I was shocked that M did it. I was sure the sleep training wouldn't work for her since she was such a horrible sleeper.
What kind of sleep training did you guys do? We did Ferber with DS but I am concerned it won't work with D because she gets herself so hysterical and irate when she cries.
Dh is off, but he's doing something with his math friends so I'm on my own. We have a mother's day craft playdate. I think we are making picture frame vases? If Lillian doesn't nap, we'll be making a Target run this afternoon. He shouldn't be home much later than usual so that's good. I'm making another new recipe tonight. I hope it's good.
Good luck with naps and cleaning waitwhat! Do you have a big closet that you can shove everything in? When J is sleeping, get B to "help" you. You will have to redo anything he sweeps or wipes down, but it will keep him entertained while you actually get something done.
goldenlove3 how creepy! I got cold called by my "CC company" once and almost gave out my CC info. Literally seconds before I read off my card number a light went off. Wouldn't my cc company have my number?? When I asked to call them back they said no. What an idiot I was! I think I was still in sleep deprivation stage with O when this happened. Glad your sense of community/charitability didn't take over here!!
ClassyMrsA I really didn't know so many different crafts existed until you shared with us!! What do you do with all these crafts she makes? Do you keep them all? For how long do you keep/display them?
Morning, h is home and seems to be on a mission to clean; this never happens so I have a feeling he's trying to get sexy time tonight. It's been, well, a long time, so the fact that he dusted the ceilings and swiffered all the floors, I guess I can't argue with that!
MIL is coming over for dinner and I'm making a shrimp boil. I'm so excited to eat! Just need to stop and get a few groceries, but cleaning is mostly done for the weekend thanks to H!

I've kept most of them. I do recycle her everyday art. Some she destroys, like her Derby hat bit the dust as soon as we got home. Other things that do survive go in a Lillian box. I'm sure one day she'll get rid of them and think I'm crazy for keeping them. Her paintings and special projects I put in the playroom as decoration.

I feel bad for ever complain about my child and sleep. She must have heard through the grapevine and planned her payback last night. She fell asleep for the first time at 1:51 am. 1 MF 51. Then woke up every single hour after that screaming like she was being dipped in boiling water furiously rubbing her face. I don't want anything to be wrong with her, but I'm also hoping it's a belly aches, teething, something so that she stops really really soon. I'm sick of sounding like a broken record.
I don't think I've ever admitted this here, but I have an extreme and irrational fear of sleep training. **TW** I can't get over the thought of me leaving her wherever and her dying. I've been told it's a normal loss mom thing. Idk. That being said, something needs to be done.

sophiegrace I'm sorry you had such a difficult night. Hopefully she does better tonight. I also had a really hard time moving Lillian to her crib. We didn't do it until she was 8.5 months and I still had to sneak in multiple times a night. Even as a 2nd time mom, I'm not ready to move Lilah into her crib yet. Despite her poor sleep. I'd rather have her next to me, in my bed, waking up every 2 hours than be sitting there having panic attacks over it. I will move her eventually and it'll be scary. But the reality is that at this point, she'd be fine. I know that rationally, but I'm not ready.

I think I'll take you up on that tgrimes1980. It's at least worth a try for a week or so because she needs more sleep and what I'm doing isn't helping.
At four months I would nurse her and put her down half asleep and pat her chest. Over a period of four days it took an hour down to ten minutes to get her to sleep like that. I was comfortable with that because I was there for her the entire time. That was at the tail end of the regression and she did fantastic for the rest of the month. Then five months hit and it's all went to shit, and then got even worse when she turned six months. I can sit for three hours now patting her belly and she'll just lose her mind. I always give up or just give in right away because it's just easier.
I just discovered what the lady who narrates house hunters looks like. MIND BLOWN.
lol! I don't know if it's the same lady since the very beginning, but they used to show her in the earlier seasons, back when I think all the episodes were mostly in the LA area and they didn't tell you the cost of each house. She also had a small role in the show Las Vegas with Josh Duhamel.

sophiegrace, I am so sorry. I wish I had advice for you but all I can offer are internet hugs. I hope you're able to find a solution that you're comfortable with.

ClassyMrsA What's the new recipe today? I'm living vicariously through you because I'm too lazy to actually try to cook something.
tjanca22 Haha totally sounds like he's planning something tonight!
hangry These scammers are professionals!! I feel like I've heard of this gas station scam before so I knew it right away when he started talking. At first I thought he was asking for directions but I figured it out quickly. It was just creepy because I actually saw him pulling into the gas station. I don't know if he saw me from the road and thought maybe I'd be an easy target? I dunno. This was right by my parents house too.
Do you guys think I should report it to the police even if I don't have any info on the guy?

I need to order lunch soon. Tell me what to get, I seriously can't decide.
Chicken Shish Tawook: Charbroiled chicken breast tenderloin marinated in garlic, lemon juice, herbs and spices. Served with saffron rice, parsley and garlic sauce.
Spanakopita Platter: Flaky pastry filled with feta and spinach. Served over saffron rice with parsley and garlic sauce
Mediterranean Chicken Salad: Marinated chicken served on romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, french feta, jumbo greek olives, pickled turnips, and famous homemade garlic-vinaigrette dressing.
Chipotle Chicken Burrito: Chicken grilled in a smoky, lime marinade with minted rice, white beans, jack cheese, pico de gallo, crema de chipotle and guacamole puree in a flour tortilla. Served with fresh chips and scratch made salsa.
Chicken Tostada Salad: Grilled chicken, beans, romaine lettuce, pico de gallo, creamy guacamole dressing, corn salsa & crunchy tortilla strips. Served with a handful of chips and roasted tomato salsa.
Beef Tinga Burrito: Shredded beef stewed with onion, chipotle and chilies in a soft flour tortilla with pinto beans, sour cream and pico de gallo. Served with tortilla chips and salsa.
So many hugs sophiegrace. It's totally understandable to have that fear. It was hard to move C into his own room and I checked on him often. He just slept so much better in his crib in his own room so we kept with it and it's getting easier with time. But I still panic a little when I check the Nest cam and don't see any recent activity (it takes screen shots from movement and sound but it doesn't pick up subtle movement). You just have to do what's best for you and M. Obviously not getting sleep isn't good though so I hope you can figure out something that works.

No. If you don't have any info they can't do anything about it.
But this also happens to me pretty regularly so...the city of Houston has bigger things to deal with.
Haha this city doesn't normally have anything going on. I didn't know if maybe they would just put out a warning on FB or something so no one else falls for it. But who knows if that guy will be back in the area again.

jubilantsquirrel that is a really hard choice! I was all about the Mediterranean Chicken Salad until I got to the burritos. The Chipotle Chicken Burrito sounds good too.

It is good! I should order one of everything and call it a day.
