Hi ladies! For those who are currently going through this, or those who have found great success, what ways did you all use to potty train? I have a boy. The doctor says to put underwear on him and continuously ask if he has to potty, and no diapers until bedtime. Sometimes he'll say no and pee two minutes later. He also fights me to get on the toilet. I know the pooping thing will take time, but at least trying to get him to pee in the toilet. Help!!!
We took a gradual approach, and started pretty early . She was in cloth a lot of the time and we started putting her on the potty with regular intervals, made sure she was relaxed (so read to hear, or play a bit) and praised her when she peed on the potty. After a while of staying dry in between, we left the diaper off, and put it on for outings. Once it was clear she would tell when she had to go and had no problems going elsewhere we quit daytime diapers entirely. That was about two years ago. She's now for and a bit and still in diapers at night. Pretty sure this won't work for everyone (I feel a bit lucky). I think DD has a camel's bladder, she not one of the kids that needs to go every hour or something, so that might contribute to our succes. Also, with this method, quickest success will be if you can have frequent bathroom breaks, which may be difficult to work out with daycare (MH was at home with DD)

Thank you for your response! My son is more focused on playing than trying to go on the potty. He likes the idea of not having a diaper, but not the work! I will continue to try
We got a potty seat thing when she was 18mos, girlfriend wasn't potty trained until 3y9m. Your son will get there. Every kid is ready at their own pace.
Forgot to mention, we also used a sticker chart for an incentive. After going in the potty she would get a sticker. And once she got to a certain number of stickers we would take her to the dollar store to pick out a small toy.
I tried stickers, but he didn't like them. I may go to the dollar store to try and find little things he may be interested in getting. Hopefully it works!
