FX for YH! I know it will be a huge adjustment for you, but I hope it works out well for you. I know that in terms of teaching certification, many states are flexible and they may just have you pay for the new certification. I am not PA knowledgeable, other than I drove through it last month & it's a beautiful state

PA is AWESOME for teachers. At least it was when I lived there. A lot of my friends parents were teachers and my parents taught and the PA budget was kind to the teachers. My parents had to take a pay cut when we moved.
We lived 2 hours east of Pittsburgh, but that was our airport/"big city." So I'm not great with the surrounding suburbs...unless you want to venture further afield. One of my good friends is from Squirrel Hill, which is a nice area - heavily Jewish/Lebovitch.
Pittsburgh is very kid friendly - there's a lot to do between the museums, sports, the rivers, open air spaces, etc.
Cost of living is good, I was so jealous of my friends who went to Pitt who had a 4 bedroom apartment for $400 a month! But the reason it's good is that it still is a relatively economically depressed area. Pittsburgh was built on steel and coal, which you can see/feel when you're there. The coal mines and steel factories are not employing the way they did.
Pittsburgh isn't as bad as the surrounding areas, but one of the reasons we moved was the rampant racism and anti-semitism. Punxsutawney which is an hour and a half away has a very large KKK membership.
If he gets the job we can teach you the local dialect. As in the fact that you'ns are gonna root for the Stillers.
My phone kept trying to navigate me to Pittsburgh today after looking up to see how far away it is from me. The answer is 3 hours. So we can meet halfway. #ISwearImNotAStalker
