Let's say you're going on a picnic. What would you pack to eat? And other details.
We'll say a lunch or early dinner time picnic, outdoors (duh), in comfortably warm weather with your spouse and/or child(ren). Either on a ground blanket or a picnic table, you can decide.
Hot food? Cold? Drinks? Salads, sandwiches, quiche? Lunchables? Ice cubes? Fancy cheese, american slices? Soups and real bowls? Paper plates? Wet naps, paper towels, linen tablecloths?

Usually sandwiches, fruit, chips, water
If it's a planned thing and we can be fancier: meat/cheese plate, crackers, pasta salad, wine, dessert
Most of the time we don't do any plates at all if it's just us. If we have guests, it could be paper or I have plastic plates that won't blow away as easily. Paper napkins and baby wipes.
I have a picnic blanket with PUL inside that rolls up easily, so we'd use that if there were no tables. Nothing fancy.

With kids, I'd just take the simple stuff - sandwiches, fruits, veggies, cookies, crackers, water/juice/soda in a basic cooler. Paper plates to eat off of. Hopefully there's tables. Otherwise, we'd just use an old blanket.
If it's just DH and me, I'd pack wine, cheese (he LOVES cheese), fruit, chocolate, and finger sandwiches. A cute basket, with matching plates, a nice soft blanket, and maybe some throw pillows to lounge on.

The ideal picnic is: good bread, butter, smoked salmon, pasta salad, panzanella salad, good wine, a couple of French cheeses, and lemon squares for dessert. We don't have plastic dishes so my husband always brings the regular dishes along, but they are heavy and breakable lol. I'm going to get some cute plastic dishes this year.
In reality, most of our picnics involve quiche, sliced watermelon, and cheese with bread.
