I like 2chatter 's idea. While the other suggestions are nice, they're permanent. Unless you've been in her home or spent a significant amount of time with her, you have no idea what her style is.
If she doesn't like them or they're not her style, she's either stuck with them or feeling guilty about throwing them out.
ETA: This post brought to you by a woman who really doesn't care for her Mother's Day presents but they'll be hanging around on walls for years...
k3am can you change any of the MD gifts? DH gave me a "family rules" frame a few years ago - but with his last name, which two of the three kids don't share. So...that was given as a wedding gift to a nephew (along with a real gift but that was a way to reuse that). I wasn't going to look at that every day on our wall....
2chatter , he gave me a vase (great) and a set of bath bombs (also great).
And followed it up by a 16x20 canvas print of a castle in Ireland and unframed 10x20 photo of Greece. The sentiment was nice - they're both places on my bucket list I want to go and it's so I can look at them until we replace them with photographs from an actual trip there - but.. yeah, we're not going anytime soon.
