My UO comes from softball last night.
I think it's stupid that they change the rules to the game for coed. Just play the fucking game the way it was created.
examples: Women have option to take a base if man before her gets walked. You have one ball and one strike when you get to bat. Women have smaller ball to hit than men. You cannot come in closer past a line drawn in the outfield. Hit up the middle at pitcher and you are out. Etc....
Schools should do away with preschool graduation and kindergarten graduation ceremonies.
+1
still irritated i had to pay hard-earned $$$ for a cap and gown for my 4-year-old. and the "graduation" is in june, and then he's there for 2 more months before K starts-- how does that even make sense??

I have a big beef with intentional walks in professional baseball. Pitch the damn ball!

I get what you're saying, but in my experience they are there for a good reason. Although my coed experience is a church league in which most of the women were awful at playing and only played because the team needed them to. Without the walking rule, the pitcher would intentionally walk the male batter to get to "the easy out"
Yeah but that's the game. Sometimes some players are better than others. Don't change rules because I have a vagina.

Several of hose rules are actual slow pitch rules and would apply in a men's league.
Then I rephrase. The ones that really bother me are the ones that change because I am a woman on a coed league. Softballs should be the same size for all of us and if we can play together (men/women) on the same team, we should have the exact same rules.

I love soup and could eat it any time of year. Thus, I did not complain when H asked me to make cream of chicken wild rice soup this week. So it is in the 80's here and I am making a hearty soup for dinner. Perhaps this is UO and Fffc?
Oh also, spring school pictures should disappear too. DNW to buy more crap-quality photos of my child looking uncomfortable and awkward.
i never buy them because they're ridiculously exorbitant, but i laugh SO HARD at the proofs every year. DS1 is always giving the photographer this priceless "who the fuck is this guy?" expression.
This whole state of the forum fight and mass exodus to Scary Mommy is just like... womyn being angry for the sake of being angry. I just don't understand.

Give me ALL the awkward school pictures! (I'm sure I'll feel differently in a few years.)
I am in favor of pictures as long as they are the proof kind and not the send-home-the-whole-printed-package-and-have-to-send-back-the-ones-you-don't-pay-for kind. It's so wasteful and I'm such a sucker and always buy more when they send the whole package...which is obviously why they do it.
So my kinders are doing swimming lessons for two weeks. This is a totally free program that involves our class taking a bus to a pool for 25 minute lessons every day for 10 days. The students are split into swimmers, non swimmers, and in between. The main goal of the program is to identify non swimmers and teach them life saving techniques like holding your breath, not panicking, and getting to the wall, among other things. There are only a few non swimmers and 2 that are scared of the water (possibly related: both moved here this year from a northern state). One of those child's parents has decided to pull the child from the program because they feel terrible about the child being upset that they have to swim.
My (unpopular?) opinion is that I think they are making a huge mistake. This is too big of a safety issue, especially in South FL. I think they need to make him suck it up so he can learn how to save his life if he falls in a pool.

Add me to the get rid of kindergarten graduation. I taught K for five years and it was a PITA. I get preschool because they are going on to "big kid school". I get fifth grade / eight grade because they are moving to middle school/high school. But, K kids are going to be in the same school going to grade 1. So silly and such a waste of time. As a parent I am glad DD1's school didn't do a K graduation.
