Youguise. I have a DAY ahead of me.
I'm going to get in the shower as soon as I'm done typing this. Then I'm going to drop off E's poop sample at the pedi and go to urgent care because I was hacking up nickel to quarter sized nastiness all last night and I want to get checked out.
Depending on how long that takes, I might head straight to a work meeting... that's a 90 minute drive each way. That'll take up most of my day. Then I've got a work call this afternoon. I've gotta get E back from daycare. And DH is having a sendoff dinner for his colleague who is leaving to go to business school. So I'll be lucky to see him before E goes to bed for the night.

loves2shop4shoes, that sounds exhausting! I hope urgent care is helpful and it's nothing serious.
It's super hot here. My house is a mess and my goal for today is getting it under control, but I don't know how that will work with the heat and no AC. I also have to decide on paint colors and go to the store to buy paint and supplies. We're getting childcare this weekend so we can paint the basement. I'm oddly excited about it.

We had big plans for the zoo today with friends... Then the toddler woke up sick at 1am. I'm majorly bummed!!
My longest stretch last night was 3:30-6am. So I'm rested. Not.
But, in super positive news, we have a buyer for my car!! It's actually a college kid that goes to my church. So no listing it on Craigslist and meeting up with who knows who with two small children in tow. I'm so, so thankful.
I'm considering giving up on cloth diapers. I've gotten a leak-free fit with Thirsties covers and OS prefolds, but I hate storing the used diapers. Every time I open the bag it smells so bad, and that's washing everything every 2-3 days. I'm just not enjoying it at all and I wonder how much of a PITA the extra laundry will be when I return to work.
loves2shop4shoes Sorry you're not feeling well. How is the new job treating you?
notagoddess, It's hot here today too. It's almost like we skipped spring and went straight to summer!
wildflower810 Glad you found a buyer!! Hope your DS feels better.
My granddad is having his aoritc valve replaced this morning. He was approved to have it done by a new procedure by going through a vein in his leg so they don't have to break open the chest. It is literally blowing my mind that they can replace something in the heart through the leg! We will be leaving the little ones with MIL so we can go sit with him tonight. Might stop somewhere on the way to the hospital for dinner for a little kid free meal..

loves2shop4shoes - Good luck today! Caffeine sounds key to your survival.
notagoddess - It's so hot here, too. Have fun painting!
wildflower810 - Hope DS feels better today and you can get some rest.
pivot - T&P for your granddad. Modern medicine is amazing, right?!
We had a rough night, too. C has officially started rolling over back-to-belly, so we can't swaddle his arms anymore. Yay (sarcasm font). So he was really tough to get down last night. He finally fell asleep around 7:30. Then, he pooped himself awake at 8:30 and was up until 10. Woke up again at 2 and then 6:30. It could have been worse... J was worse LOL
I'm totally not into working today. All I can think about is my girls night this weekend! MH is taking the kids to his parents' house overnight so me and the girls have the place to ourselves. I'm making an Italian appetizer spread - kale salad, antipasto, white bean crostini, and cannoli dip for dessert. And of course limoncello and orangecello with Sprite and wine. So. Excited.

notagoddess just a personal tip, I don't close my cloth storage, at least never completely and the airflow helps it to not smell in my opinion. I wash ED-EOD now because 2 in cloth, but I always kept it open with just my girls and my stash is so big I could stretch 4 days sometimes. Just a tip, but cloth is definitely not for everyone.
Today I'm dropping off my midwives gift, need to get DHs beard oil because the kids were too tired for it yesterday. I need groceries. My hope is to finally video chat DH tonight, so fx on that. I'd also like to squeeze in a nap but who am I kidding?
pivot, so far so good on the new job. It's super flexible which I like. But it's dig.ital mark.eting for B2B tech companies specifically. And some of them are SUPER technical. So it's a little bit of a learning curve.
So L sleeps in the RnP. And we have the one that rocks all night long. It's awesome, but we need to break her of needing it. So last night I set it to only rock for 30 minutes instead of 6 hours. IT WORKED! I'm hoping that we can stop with the 30 minutes this weekend and move on to step two, getting her to sleep in the PnP instead of on the incline.
pivot - aortic replacement valves are exactly the product I work on at my company! It's really amazing what they're able to do with minimally invasive technology these days. I hope his procedure goes smoothly!
loves2shop4shoes Is an in-person meeting 90 minutes away really necessary? I don't like meetings. Btw, if you have any tech questions I've done PR for high-tech stuff and my background is in hard science and computer programming.
notagoddess I'm about ready to give up on cloth because I can't get the smell out of the pocket diapers when I wash them. My learning curve just started over since our old washer died and our new one is a HE top-load with an agitator instead of an old-style top-load. I'd be fine if it were just prefolds/flats and covers, but I don't think daycare can handle that.
oldbaylover1024 I don't think I have enough local friends to have a girls' night. We need to leave here.

Has anyone bothered to read any of the "State of the Forum" thread that's 91 pages long (and counting) that's sticked? I've popped in here and there and meh... I kinda agree that there's a lot of talk and pomp about TCF.... but it's the same talk that it's always been.

nomnom - I meet with my college roommates about 4-5x/year. We chat in between visits and occasionally we'll see each other at other events, but I treasure our weekend visits. Honestly, it's hard work keeping in touch between kids and work and LIFE, but it's worth it. I used to have another group of girls I'd do overnights with, but that hasn't happened in a while.
Frankly, these weekends wouldn't happen if I didn't organize them. Yes. I'm tooting my own horn here. I do all the emailing, texting, coordinating. We swap hosting duties, but I do 99% of the work. It's annoying, if I'm being honest, but it's worth it.

I tried a bit. About the only productive thing about it was I learned how to do this:

I've done some reading on the state of the board thread. It would suck if this dissolved, but honestly, I like that there isn't "content". There are enough places to read mommy blogs already.
DS2 is being really weird about eating. Like I have to force him to eat. He's happy and content just not interested in eating. I'm debating on calling the pedi. He's still making diapers, so maybe he's just not as voracious as his brother.
DS1 went to time out three times before 10AM. It's going to be a long day. dang toddlers. So sweet and then so mean.

I pop in and out of reading the thread. Lots of people being crabby and a budding business that's not being run terribly well. Part of running something like this is you take flak because you can't please everyone. Choose something that will work as a business and piss off few enough members to make it viable. Much like being a parent (CEO of a family, essentially), you can't be the CEO of a company and everyone's friend at the same time.
ETA: I don't care personally what happens with TCF as long as some of my peeps are on the same message board I am or have some other means of chatting.

Hello! I've spent most of the morning playing animal doctor with DD. All her stuffed animals have bandages now.
My H has been working super late everyday this week. I'm over it. Last night both kids wouldn't settle down. I tell H I'm exhausted when he gets home and he's like oh. IF YOU'RE NOT GONNA BE HERE TO HELP AT LEAST COMMISERATE WITH ME geez
Did I mention my country is in political chaos once again? No? Because it is. Well at least I'm not at work!
loves2shop4shoes So glad you are liking it! Learning something new for a job can be so mentally exhausting but it's just one more thing to add to the resume!
ellabee So crazy! Maybe he is getting one of your valves!
oldbaylover1024 Enjoy your girls night. Cannoli dip sounds heavenly right now.

I wouldn't mind if F17 created a Fb group. But, I know we're small so it would need to be like 100% people agreeing. I know that BMB fb groups get a reputation for being all drama lama, but my N14 group is so amazing and somehow we've avoided all the crap that people talk about (well, except for one incidence, buuut, we don't talk about that).

Regarding the State of the Forum thread... sigh.
I didn't read the whole thing, but I get the feeling that 3 friends decided to start this forum after the Exodus That Shall Not Be Named. All the sudden, the forum explodes and becomes a real 'thing', like requiring real work, like a real business. IMO it doesn't seem like the 3 friends fully knew what kind of work would be involved.
Now members are upset about the lack of new members, fingers are being pointed, and changes aren't happening fast enough.
Sounds to me like the forum needs to be someone's full-time job. Not mine, but someone's.
ETA: And I'm not on FB, so if this place shuts down I'll be sad.

My S15 group is on FB and it's pretty friendly as long as I don't post substantive unpopular opinions or touchy topics. Most of the group disagrees with my views on a lot of things and/or the people who agree (probably wisely) stay silent.

oldbaylover1024 so jealous of your girls night! I feel like I'm normally the organizer for any girls nights as well.
pivot good luck to your grandpa! My Dad had his aortic valve replaced when I was 3 ( so he was probably 32?) and he is a very strong, healthy 65 year old now. Side note: Now that I have kids I think about my poor mom. She had a 9, 7, and 3 year old and my Dad recovering from open heart surgery. She's super woman!
I read parts of the state of the forum thread the other day. I kind feel like some people are too worked up about everything. I want the message board to continue but I don't need it to be a fancy website. Then again, I understand the thought that they need to do something to draw in new users so the boards don't eventually die out. Regardless, I'm at a 1 over it.

Good luck with the transition staz hopefully it continues to be smooth sailing
I suck at keeping up on parenting because it moves so damn fast! But I try. I DNW that board to end, but it does seem that if you don't draw in new members it is inevitable. I don't do any other forums like this. I'm part of 2 mom groups on Facebook but it's just not like this.
I worked last night, just ate breakfast and trying not to sweat on my children. It's extremely uncomfortable in my house: but don't really know what to do the rest of the day...so sitting here doing nothing.
oldbaylover1024 Okay, back down to a 1 on concern for the forum :-). The political crap on FB is annoying, so I ignore it as much as I can. Baby pics FTW!

musicallyinclined & ellabee we call our 2 year old a sour patch kid. One minute she's breaking the house and the next hugging you and saying sweet things. Toddlers!

I'm at about a 2 or 3 on the state of the forum, nomnom. It feels like this could go south fast, and I'm not sure I'm up for a whole "we're moving here now" switch again. Or it fizzles out and the conversation comes up again in 6 months. Who knows...
I DO know I want to call out of work tomorrow to get some stuff done. And maybe day drink while I vacuum and scrub bathrooms.
