So, another stickied thread up there ⬆️. Anyone know what the point is? Can't those who want to leave, leave, and those who want to stay, stay? Or does there have to be a certain number of active posters to keep the lights on around here?
And if the stickied thread is to determine whether to stay or go, does that mean the majority wins, or are some people going to move regardless?
So confused. Why does this seem like it's way more complicated than it has to be? I still feel like I'm missing something, but no way am I going to read that original million-page thread to see if it's buried in there.

I've been reading it because I obviously have nothing better to do...
Basically, folks are stating their case for stay/leave/start a new ProBoard. It's all over the place.
The loss community has some strong feelings both ways. And a lot of concerns about SM's set up and topic-driven rules. There's concerns about triggers and loss boards being an afterthought.
Apparently, SM admins have been deleting posts by their users. Some SM users don't like how yesterday went down and the SM admins are deleting their posts. Obviously this does not bode well for the snarky posters we have here that want to move. Hence the talk about a new ProBoard.

Anyone mind if I post in the stickier thread that consensus in WP is we are staying put? It appears the big concern with people who want to stay is whether anyone else is going to stay.
And it does look like there will be a place to stay put. So that's comforting.
This sounds like a temper tantrum right now. They are not going to be happy with SM in the long run. Too many rules. They are going to run into the same problem they had with TB

Feel free to speak for me, but only if you think it makes a difference. I thought of doing the same thing but honestly, what are the people who are doing most of the posting up there going to do with that information? If enough people (who aren't even their internet friends) say they want to stay, will they stay, too?
That said, if you think there is strength in numbers, I'm happy to post up there, too. Just come back and let us know backup is requested.
I'm not following the eleventy billion page thread. Just looking at Page 1, there seems to be a lot of "if everyone else goes, I'll go too but I don't want to." Which I think is how we all feel.

Regarding this quote: "It's really hard for me take peoples' opinions into consideration if a) they didn't read the thread and/or b) don't regularly post here."
I want to know where "here" is. Is it Parenting? Is it the niche boards? Is it TCF? Where?

I voted SM and then tried to change it to TB. My plan of action is to stay here while I can but I have accounts on both SM and TB. I will probably monitor all three when I'm bored. I love (LOVE) this group of people, but it would be nice to have some fresh blood occasionally. I've definitely felt like the board has slowed in the last 6-ish months.
I didn't see it in the several pages I perused mommyatty, but I am Not going back in there. Waaaay too many people at a 10 for a one situation. The threads all read like dystopian YA novels.
Go read some and tell me James Dashner isn't moonlighting.

It looks exactly like it always has on Working Parents. We have a great group that's not interested in splintering. While we love new posters (and are so glad we have some lurkers starting to post more this week), we are really happy with our group. So we are inclined to stay exactly the way we are, right where we are.
When everyone left TB, I said that it was like meeting friends at a coffee shop for me. I was there for the friends, and which coffee shop didn't matter to me. My friends and I are continuing to meet at this coffee shop. We all know how to get here, and we have friends we haven't seen in a while who may come back and wonder where we went.
mommyatty, it looks like no one responded at all. I read a couple pages after your post and didn't see any responses. Just lots of discussion about SM.
From what I am seeing, we WP are all still here, happy where we are, and the board is not going to be shut down. I don't even think we need to have a plan B at this point. If anyone hears of something major, keep us posted. I'm no longer worried.
akafred, I guess what I wonder is - how do we know they're not active? Maybe we're just all active in such niche pockets, that it doesn't seem like there's a lot going on. But if you look across all boards, we're in good shape? I have no idea, just speculating.

Can we change the name of working parents to Central Perk since it's a coffee shop now
If they aren't active, I really don't care if they leave. There's nothing the admins could do to make me post if I didn't want to....but I don't really get lurking and not posting because, well, I can't keep my mouth shut.
I was one of the 1000 on SM yesterday. I am a planner and worrier, so just in case we had to jump ship, I wanted to initiate my plan B, C, D,etc.... I didn't care for it and hope to keep checking in here.
