Se.lah and Har.per arrived late Thursday night! It's been an incredible experience so far.
I was scheduled to be induced that night (38w with twins was the goal), but my water broke around 2:30 pm on Thursday. It was just a small trickle. Went to the Dr and they confirmed it, so to the hospital we went. Got settled and was a 3, contractions were painless and probably 10 mins apart. Dr broke A's water all the way (gushes of water every so often, for a couple hours) probably around 5, then we started the pitocin around 6. Contractions started becoming closer together and more intense over the next 2-3 hours, then I got an epidural around 9 pm. Got checked and was at an 8, then soon after a 10 by 10:30 pm. But the OR was busy so they had me wait until it opened up, because they do twin deliveries in the OR as a precaution. Got into the OR and set up to push probably at 11:45 pm, and it went very quickly from there, probably since so much time had passed! Baby A was head down and came out with maybe 10-12 pushes at 11:55 pm. Then they quickly got a scan of B, was breech still and not going head down. One leg was coming out, the other was up by her head. The resident went alllll up in there and did a breech extraction - not painful because of the epidural but really strange and I could feel it going on. Baby B came out with maybe 6 pushes at 11:59 pm, about 30 seconds before midnight so same birthdays
A was smaller than expected, 5lb4oz and B was 6lb12oz. A's cord and placenta were much smaller so she just wasn't getting as many nutrients. She's great though! Both girls are doing well.
My recovery has been much easier so far than it was with DD1, hoping it stays that way! BFIng is going well. Trying to tandem feed and it's working with the help of H to get all the pillows situated and passing me the girls. We should be headed home this afternoon. Oh and I mix them up all the time already, despite the fact they look different because of their sizes!
