When I moved below the Mason-Dixon Line I was shocked at how quickly the heavy southern accent appeared. I was also shocked to find out that according to the locals I also had an accent.

Anyyyyway I'm waiting for a pest guy to come to my house and see if they can rehome some violent and messy barn swallows. And then at 11 I'm headed to the GI surgeon to start the process of trying to figure why my stomach has been hurting so bad. Super fun day.

I've been told I have an accent even though I was born and raised in Michigan. And they don't mean a Michigan accent (whatever that is lol). I might have picked something up from my family. Who knows.

I'm just working from home today. So far I've read 3 emails, put C down for a nap which took forever, made breakfast and watched some news. I keep forgetting about work.
dashook remember when you posted about making H smoothies? What did you put in them? I'm struggling with B and getting him to eat anything, let alone a veggie. I made him a smoothie today with spinach and bananas and strawberries and his coconut yogurt but would like to try to get more veggies in there.
I'm going to bat signal kleigh on this one too. She makes some pretty great sounding ones.
When I spend any amount of time around Southern people I hear myself speaking more like them. Then I feel dumb because not one thing about me is southern.
I'm at D's 6 month appointment right now and then will be dropping her off with my MIL and heading into work. Her second tooth popped through last night!!
waitwhat the smoothie you described sounds a lot like what I give DS. You can add other neutral flavored veggies like zucchini, or go a little bolder and try broccoli stalks (you may need to mask a little with some vanilla extract or orange juice though). You can also do beets with bananas and berries (blue or straw) because those flavors mesh well. Also pumpkin and butternut squash do great in smoothies!
sophiegrace Thanks girl, good luck at the GI doc !!
waitwhat I almost always use spinach bc I feel like it's a power food. That said, it'll turn most smoothies brown if you add red foods and looks really unappealing lol so I only use it in green smoothies. I also almost always use apple and/or pear for sweetness
We have different ones:
Green Apple and/or pear Spinach Kale Cucumber Celery You can add honeydew or kiwi
Red Orange Red spinach (which TJs doesn't always have) Beets Carrot Orange Raspberries Cantaloupe if you have it
Blue Purple Spinach or Kale Blueberries Blackberries Banana

waitwhat, if you haven't tried it SO Delicious coconut milk yogurt is pretty tasty to throw in those smoothies (or to eat plain) for him.
My go to is half a banana, a bit of almond butter, almond milk, ice and egg white protein powder. Without the protein powder it tastes like a delicious milkshake. Lately I've started cutting up banana and freezing it so that I can skip out on the ice, but it's still nice and cold. Sometimes I'll soak some oats overnight to add to it if I'm going to need some extra carbs. I'm sure baby oatmeal would sub in fantastically. Oats usually necessitate some extra liquid.
Using sophiegrace's sleep plan, I decided to try putting Lilah down at 8:45, hoping for sleep at 9. It worked! Napping with 0 crying. It might be a fluke...but I'm hoping it's the start of a trend. We'll see how the other naps and bedtime go. We are going to try bedtime between 7 and 7:30...I'm both interested to see how it goes and terrified it'll be a disaster.
We have playgroup today. Dh wants me to pick him up at 3 and then we're going to the store. So I need to make a grocery list. I'm hoping Lillian will nap after playgroup so I have some time and so her nap isn't too late.

kleigh forgive me if this is dumb but how do you do hard veggies, like beets and carrots?? I've only done soft fruits and veggies and frozen ones but I feel like the hard ones would be difficult to blend? I have a nutribullet if that makes a difference.
Also just a thought that came to me, what if I threw a purée in there, like a veggie one? That would probably work right?
dashook thanks for the suggestions! I never thought to try zucchini or squash!
I'm not kleigh but you could always steam the veggies a bit first (beets or carrots) to soften them. Or just buy the baby beets that are pre-cooked from TJs. Those are my favorite for smoothies or salads. And you could totally throw in a puree!

All these smoothies sound really good. We used to do them every morning but stopped and got lazy and started buying the naked juice bottles. We do need to get back to making our own because we have a lot of good protein powder that needs to get used. We get frozen fruit from Costco. They have a lot of different options of either one fruit or mixed fruits.
Just got home from C's 6-month check. 29.5" long and just shy of 20 lbs. No wonder lugging her around in the car seat is such a job! This was our last appt with our pedi here, barring an illness or w/e, so it made me sad. Both the doctor and nurse gave us hugs; it's been such a good practice and I really felt like they cared about our kids.
We are going out to lunch shortly and then I need to get a couple new items for B (he's outgrowing clothes right and left😳).

Bad thing about working from home is that my lunch options are limited unless I drag the baby out to get food. We only have stuff to make salads here. There's also leftover lasagna but that's supposed to be for dinner since H is golfing tonight.

Eat the lasagna for lunch and then go pick something up for dinner!
