Our pedi wants ds to take a multivitamin with iron since his iron was on the low side of normal. With all of his eating issues and whatnot, we can only get him to take a gummy vitamin. I cannot find a gummy kids vitamin with iron, though.
He currently takes a Flinstones kids gummy.
What does your toddler take? Have you ever found a gummy vitamin with iron? Is there a separate iron gummy I can buy to go with his multivitamin gummy? I haven't found one that's just iron and I don't want to give him too much of anything. Help!
You just made me check mine, and there is no iron. Now I'm bummed. I didn't even check and only assumed a vitamin would contain iron. I may try one of the ones posted by athn64
I know nothing about how good these are, DD1 isn't currently on a vitamin or nutritional supplement.
I saw the one in your first link earlier today, but I was wondering if giving him that and the multi would be too much of certain vitamins. It has iron and a list of other stuff Is that possible?
The second one, though, I haven't seen before and is basically just iron and vitamin c, b12 and folic acid. That should be ok to supplement the multi, right?

I would think it would be fine. Those are water soluble nutrients so they are really hard to od on.

Thank you for helping me science. I know nothing. I'm going to get that second one and give it a go.
Doll15, DD's pedi recommends not using the gummies since they do not contain the same amount as the chewables do. The Flinstone chewables does have one with iron. The only problem with them is that she only suppose to take 1/2 of one so they are a pita to cut.
Gummies don't contain the same amount of what?
We tried the flinstones chewables with iron and you're right, pita to cut in half. I thought ds was eating them and then found them all behind the couch. Gross and disgusting as you would imagine. So, no more of those.
Susan0utLoud, if I remember correctly that not every vitamin that can be found in the chewables can be made into the gummies so that's why she recommended the chewables.
Hmm, my pedi is breezy about these things so I'm not surprised she didn't say no to gummies when I asked. But at this point we are gummy or nothing, so gummy it is!
I thought they specifically don't put iron in the gummies because it looks like candy and they don't want kids od on it. Like even women's gummy prenatals don't have iron.

Ok, I saw this on a blog or two when I was researching. Hmm.

Will he eat smoothies? I know that's a pita to make but if you put spinach in a strawberry smoothie, it would probably give him his daily value.

Hit and miss on smoothies. He has major texture issues, so he'll usually drink a smoothie if it's in a cup where he can't see it and drink through a straw. If he sees it, he'll likely gag just like he does with yogurt or sour cream or stuff like that.
Does he have an issue with liquids Susan0utLoud? DS was iron deficient at his first birthday, and we gave him a liquid iron supplement.
Which one did you give him? As everyone has confirmrd, I figured cutting the Flintsones in half would be a PITA so I got the Upspring liquid from Target and it tastes like metal. I've tried putting it in milk, but she refused to drink it. And if I try to sneak it in fast with the syringe, she just spits it all out.

I wish I remembered. I just grabbed whichever one Kroger has in the baby isle. I'm pretty sure it was the only one they had.
Freaking children, nothing, not even giving sweet chewable and/or gummy vitamins is easy. Why must it be so hard?!
Haha omg I had to go look at hers because I didn't even realize that. I thought it was fitting since H says I'm always talking and that one looked to match it!!
Will he drink milk? I forget. If he does you could try carnation instant breakfasts? Our pedi recommended them to my mom for one of my brothers that was underweight and low iron. They have a lower sugar option now too. I checked and it says 25% of daily iron so that's probably plenty for a toddler.
My kids are weird and think that the vitamins are candy and beg to have them. We were also told to avoid the gummies so I got the Target brand of chewables. FC: I don't cut them in half. I just let them have a full one. But we definitely don't take it every day.

😓no, he won't drink milk. We made progress and now he's in like week 2 of a protest.
