My random question: anyone doing anything to protect bed and/or car in case your water happens to break in bed or while driving? I know water breaking before labor happens for a very small percent of women but I'd rather be prepared.

I switched our mattress pad to a waterproof one and I have two towels stashed in my car in case I'm out somewhere and my water breaks. I'm also going to throw a couple trash bags in my car. When my water broke with DD I was in the bathroom so that was lucky- but I placed trash bags and towels on my seat for the drive to the hospital. Worked like a charm.

I have a waterproof mattress pad. It was also very valuable postpartum with all the milk leakage.
I have not done anything about the car but I will toss a towel in. I already have paper towels and trash bags. because toddler. I'm not terribly concerned because we have wipeable non-cloth seats.
With both kids my water broke in the hospital immediately before baby came out, but I still sat on trash bags in the car on my way to the hospital while in labor. I didn't do anything with the bed. Of course, watch my water break in bed this time
i have a waterproof 'pad' - it's more like a zipper bag that goes around the entire mattress. but DH hates it so it's not on the bed. i also have a flat one that i used just on my side of the bed when pregnant with DD and for milk leakage/night sweats after her arrival, but it gets all bunched up underneath me and is annoying. so right now nothing, but i am kind of worried about it and need to address it.
I should probably put something on our bed and in the car just in case. I was thinking of layering some beach towels under our fitted sheet on my side. We do have a mattress protector
can we also talk about prodromal labor? i mentioned in the weekly check-in that i've had some menstrual type cramping the last 2 days. can it feel like that? google is overwhelming me.
I didn't do anything last time and they broke my water in the hospital after I was fully dilated, so it didn't matter. However, I was shocked at the amount that came flooding out, so I definitely plan to at least have something in the vehicle for the drive in this time. Haven't thought about my bed, though.
agm04 - I've had some cramp-like feelings the past week or so and believe they're Braxton Hicks from what I've been told (all in the front, nothing in the back, last longer than 30 seconds, no build-up and release).
marshian interesting, thanks. these are really low and feel different from the BH i've experienced thus far. i mean i'm not concerned, just obsessing over it for no reason. lol.

I've been having this for about a week now. Not sure exactly what is it, but it isn't fun.

Last night and today baby has been moving a ton. I know decreased movements are concerning but are increased movements? I may call my OB at lunch just to check...

I bought a waterproof flat mattress protector to go under the fitted sheet in case my water broke in bed. Of course, it didn't even arrive before baby came, but it has proven to be very valuable as I sweat at night and leak milk now. It was about $15 on Amazon.
eucalyptus, I got the Mirena IUD as soon as I could after birth with DS. I loved it. I used to think that when we were done having kids, I would have DH get a vasectomy, but I loved the Mirena so much that I don't think he'll need to. I had some spotting on it but no real periods and that was so nice. Most of my friends have it now, too.
I looked into the Paraguard since I was worried about using anything hormonal, but I heard a lot of horror stories about really bad cramping on Paraguard. My OB told me that the hormones in the Mirena are so localized (as opposed to throughout your body like birth control pills), that she rarely sees any weird side effects or weight gain. And after I went off birth control pills when I tried to get pregnant the first time, it took forever for my body to get any semblance of normal cycles back. I had the Mirena taken out in August, had one period (as recommended by my OB), and then got pregnant with this baby immediately in September.
38 weeks tomorrow and I haven't packed my hospital bag😂. I keep joking, "poor second child". With Dd1 I already had the carseat installed and everything ready to go.
If I end of needing a c-section, I'm getting my tubes tied. Otherwise DH is getting a vasectomy. I'm kind of sad to think that we're really, truly done having kids, but I know it's really the best option for us.
We're debating on what to do for birth control. We want more kids and fairly close together. I also want to breastfeed and while many people do fine on the mini pill, I've heard from some who haven't. I'm thinking I'll try that and see how it goes.
i'm not sure what we'll do. if we decide we are 100% done, DH will probably get a vasectomy. i think we're both 75% sure. i hate hormonal BC, and once i got my period back with DD (10 months later i think?), i just started temping. i'm interested in paragard but also scared of it.
For those contemplating vasectomies, you can tell your SOs my H is a urologist who does them fairly frequently and is perfectly happy to get one himself. In his opinion, the procedure and recovery are so quick and easy it's well worth it versus keeping your wife on hormonal birth control for years on end.

I will probably go back on the Pill and stay on it until we plan to use our frozen embryos for hopefully more kids in the future. My body never really regulated off the pill and I blamed birth control for our difficulty conceiving but clearly it was more than that. So since I do well while on the pill and regulating after won't be an issue with FET in our future I think that will be our plan.

I've gotten pregnant on the mini pill while breastfeeding. I don't trust it anymore!
