Well I have an outside baby!!
It was a world wind delivery. I had an NST and doctor's appointment on Tuesday. During my doctor's appointment my blood pressure was slightly elevated. The doctor said she would run some labs. Then I went to NST but baby's heartbeat accelerated and never decelerated. They sent me over to Labor and Delivery and next thing I knew I was being induced. My labs came back showing mild signs of pre-e. DH had to bring everything from home, because I thought I was just going to my appointments. First they inserted the foley bulb (not fun) and then they administered pictocin (also not fun). I was in some stage of labor from Tuesday evening until Thursday evening. Labor was tough to say the least, I had really strong back labor. My cervix dilated to 9.5 cm. Before I got to 9.5 I decided to get an epidural. When I got the epidural my blood pressure was high because of the pain. But when blood pressure dropped her heart rate would drop. At one point there was a room full of nurses and doctors turning me from side to side to get her heart rate to accelerate. I also had to wear oxygen as well. We knew something was wrong when one of the nurses stayed in our room the whole night monitoring the fetal monitor. So by Thursday afternoon, right after getting more pain meds same thing happened with baby. My doctor said the baby was not able to tolerate labor every time more pictocin was administered her heart rate would drop. She strongly suggested a c-section because she didn't think the pushing would help the baby who was already clearly distressed. So we agreed a c-section would be best. I got really scared when we got to the OR there was a whole NICU team waiting for us.
But Jour.ney Ela.ine was born on 6/1/17 weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces and 19 inches long. First name pays homage to our years of infertility and her middle name was my mom's middle name. We loved her name!
We later found out they had to cut me through my vagina because she was so deep in the vaginal canal and the cord was wrapped around her neck. Yikes! So my incision site is not a typical entry point.
But she's happy and healthy. And I'm recovering from the labor and delivery.
Here is my daughter...
