I think it depends on what you're doing for bedding. If there's pattern on the bedding, pattern on the windows could get busy. It could work if it coordinates but has a change in scale, or if the rest of the room is very "clean."
Mostly because I'm a plain person when it comes to clothes and interior design.
But....it also means you can easily change your style should you want to, with bolder, patterned accessories like throws and cushions. You are a bit more "tied in" if you choose prints on things like blinds....more of a commitment.
I agree with lulu. I think the pattern on the curtains could be too much with whatever other accessories you are choosing whereas the plain curtains are more versatile.
I like the idea of neutral wall, neutral frames, crazy curtains and bed spreads. Basically- the cheapest and easiest things to change when your kid is into something different in like a year.

I think bedding will be solid colors. One kid wants pink flowers and one wants purple butterflies, I can't find bedding with those themes and colors and have them coordinate together. So right now I'm leaning towards solid pink and purple duvet covers and adding a flower and butterfly shaped pillow, respectively.
