I just can't imagine that my kids extracurricular activities are going to equal what we pay in childcare right now. I mean I used to teach private music lessons and the average charge per 1/2 hr lesson was $22 per week. So if they choose to do music then at most I could be paying like $100 per week for both if they did hour long music lessons. This isn't even close to what we pay per week for DC. I have no idea what sports cost but I can't imagine it equaling anywhere close to $2000 per month. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I think where it gets expensive is if you have to buy musical instruments. Or sports gear. And for kids, it's new shoes/uniforms/pads/helmets/etc every year bc they grow out of them. And sometimes it's all-day tournaments on weekends where you have to travel, eat out, stay in a hotel, etc. But yeah, I still don't see it being the same as DC. Probably just more large 1-time or once a year expenses.

Is this where I confess that I really hope my kids don't choose sports?? I can get all the discounts on musical instruments, sports equipment not so much lol.

Yeah I was pissed about the summer activity fees. And having to pay registration fee each year for each kid. I wish I could see a finanacial statement for where all of our money goes.
Re sahm - I agree vlagroupie I wish our country had a different attitude and support for paid maternity leaves and longer leave options. TBH I really don't know how cut out I am to be a sahm. And I make a decent amount more than H. It does not make sense financially for me to be a sahm. Everyone who asks me always assumes "oh well with childcare costs i bet it makes sense to sah" but our childcare is cheap, and I make a good salary so it's a non factor. But financials aside, there are other factors that make me consider SAH as an option at this phase in life.
Yes will remind you! They had some that were normal shorts which I got, but then they had some that were too "campy mom" for me, like too many pockets..fyi for when you look. Also had Capri length that were cute. They're all by Sonoma.

Aside from financials, I think you actually have to want to be home with your kids all the time. This year has sucked because I'm immensely pregnant and want to do nothing, but usually I would plan something for everyday with DS (when I wasn't working previously). Now... I don't know why, but I really want to get back to work. It's personal as much as financial.
Y'all I got a double stroller and feel like screaming FREEDOM!!!!
It's super easy to turn and push.
I see myself getting out of the house alone now! The stroller works with 2 infant seats, or I can do 1 infant seat and one regular seat if DD1 wants to ride and I wear one baby. Or when everyone is able to sit up, can do two regular seats.
Yes totally get that sstwinklinglites good point on the personal side of it.
Being so pregnant is so freaking hard. Then add a toddler. Then add all the sickness/ life stuff going on. Seriously it's going to be better oNce baby is here.
