Season Depression for Losing a Child

I have a cousin who gave birth to a baby boy 10 years ago but unfortunately, the little one didn't make it due to nuchal cord. It was too late for the doctor to save the baby. After a few years, they had their 2nd baby and everyone was hoping that my cousin has finally able to get over the loss of her firstborn. However, we noticed that every time their first baby's birthday is coming, her mood is always changing. Her husband even told us that she locks the room and doesn't want to eat. She cries a lot and doesn't want to talk to anyone. It usually lasts for a couple of weeks. Is it considered a seasonal depression? How can we help her finally move on?

Hi. Thanks for replying. I actually tried reaching out to her but she's not yet ready to talk about it. She told me that she will eventually feel better. I guess her condition is similar to a Summer or seasonal depression which I read from this counseling site. It occurs every Summer or another season. I understand that there will always be an empty spot in her heart and only her son could fill that up. I guess that's normal for all mothers who lost a child. And yes, I agree with you...the pain may go away in time but she will never forget. I know she's a tough woman. Meantime, I'm giving her some time to mend. She assured me that she'll be fine. I have to trust her with that because she knows herself very well.

Hi Henry. Thanks for your suggestion. I really do believe she needs help, but I'll leave her to decide. She told me she's going to be okay. I know her, and I know she'll be the first to say she needs help. Meantime, I believe all I can do is have faith that she'll get through this.

Oh dear! believe me, your sister is not alone in this. All shes needs ais support. Without any further delay, you guys should insist her on getting some psychological help. It is okay for her to act in this manner. After all her loss cant is overcome just by consoling. But it is important that you move on with life. Try to create a family with your husband. It's not only her but the husband is also suffering from this. This must be realized. She can get the best medical assistance with proficient doctors. Yes! You are right. They treat everyone like this. I sent them several emails so that I got the chance o to talk to the doctor. But they didn't reply to my emails. Even they didn't tell me about the treatments information. I just asked about the little detail of infertility treatments as I don't know much. But they didn't feel it there duty to let me know of all this. I think this was a sign by the God because a clinic that doesn't give me reply on time will how come to facilitate me. Thank God, that I was saved from such hands. Don't know what they could do with me. A clinic shouldn't be trusted blindly. We should always first get every detail of it. And then make a visit to it. It felt like someone has taken the world for me. It felt horrible. I still can't get over it to this day. It's been 10 years now. Maybe even more than that. But the pain is still there. However, we got a daughter via surrogacy. We couldn't conceive after that since our doctors told us that I'm infertile. This was a very hard time. We're glad its over.

I feel so bad for your cousin. I know its very difficult for her to forget her baby. But the good thing is that she became a mother again. My friend has the same story as your cousin. She was pregnant almost two years ago. But she had some complication in her pregnancy. Someone suggested her to went to Lotus. She went to lotus to save her pregnancy. But they had not paid proper care to her. Due to this, she lost her first baby in her womb. She was very disheartened. She cant forgot her bad memories. Almost two months ago she again became pregnant. I wish she will have a safe pregnancy this time. I suggest you cherup your cousin. You have to make some sitting of her with psychiatrist. Hey there? How are you? How is your cousin? I am so sorry for what your cousin had to go through. Tell her to get herself checked from a good clinic and try treatments to overcome infertility. I and my boyfriend couldn't conceive so we were looking for a good clinic and opted for one in Europe. This clinic is quite good and has a nice environment. I went through IVF treatments too but it didn't work for me. I didn't go in the second round and then my doctor suggested me surrogacy. I opted for it and now I have a beautiful baby. That's really sad. I cannot even imagine how she is dealing with all this. It's not easy at all. I can understand her. But she has to get out of that depression. It might affect her life with her current baby. Talk to her. Show her love and care. And if that doesn't work, then I think her husband should convince her for counseling. This is a really difficult situation for her. No one deserves this but this all is part of life. I think so you should prepare her mentally to visit a psychologist. Psychologist therapy would definitely provide her with peace of mind. You might understand that through how much pain she is going through but a psychologist can treat that pain. This is a really big tragedy of her life it would take time to heal from it. Try to spread happiness around her in this way it might be easy to heal for her.
