Hi, DH is working from home today so I was able to get to the gym this morning, since I missed yesterday. Cleaning and laundry the rest of the day. N has a longer day at school for drawing class.
I tried a new (modified) recipe that I saw during my workout. I'll call them... sweet and savory roasted pepitas. So good. I basically followed the recipe on the food network but instead of pumpkin pie spices I used bbq spices with no cal sweetener. So yummy! Good for a snack throughout the day or on salads. I bet they'd be good on soups, or even desserts if you made them true to recipe. And they fit nicely into my low carb diet!
Bonus: I ask because this was a shower thought this morning. I have so many sounds going on throughout the day that I like to shower in silence. Sometimes I sing or just think. But I wonder what is most common...? Even though it's more like 15 min shower for me:
Bible study morning. Our post-class fellowship got canceled so I ended up getting G from school as usual. I’m putting J down for his nap first, which is opposite from usual. G is enjoying the extra time upstairs in his playroom.
Bonus: depends. If I’m alone and the kid(s) are napping, no music. Otherwise, usually music. We actually have a Bluetooth speaker in the shower.
Music helps me know how long I’ve been in the shower.
And I got distracted and didn't answer the question. I enjoy music in the shower by rarely have it on anymore. You can hear music from my bathroom in S's room and I am always trying to avoid waking in the mornings. Sometimes on the weekends when I can just go not worry about kids putting on music is nice it also helps me from hearing phantom noises to ponder over. Ie check out from being a mom for a few minutes, but those days are a luxury.
C had his 2 year appointment today and was super good. She is the 3rd professional to say he is the best 2 year old they've seen 🤣. I think he has just enough stranger danger to keep him still but not enough to make him cry and he will follow directions. And omg the Dr was awesome, third one I tried here and I appreciate her medically, but also she found out I was a veterinarian and was so amazingly supportive of me staying home and just encouraged me to keep my licensing up etc so I could go back *IF* I wanted. I might write her a note expressing how much I appreciated her.
In other news it's snowing! It's 36° so nothing is sticking but it's big fat flakes and coming down pretty significantly. S was so excited when she got out of school.
aggiebug I'm glad you had a good visit and like the doc. It's nice to hear support from other professionals about staying at home. I'm keeping up my CLS certification too even though I'm not sure if I'd go back at least not to that capacity. I got burnt out from the high stress hospital demands.
I think aggie's snow is headed my way because tomorrow we are supposed to get a measurable amount - an inch or so.
Today was both schools and the gym (I've actually lost some weight!). Usual day here. I'm doing some laundry. It's super cold here; I had to break out my lined leggings ugh. I usually wait a while for those but walking to N's school & back is pretty windy and therefore colder than just running in/out of a warm car. If the weather and H's work cooperates we are having grilled cheeseburgers (without the bun for me) for dinner! Yaaassss! Everyday has been a struggle to get the girls to eat dinner and it doesn't help that I'm dieting and would love to eat their food haha. Hopefully tonight will be better.
