Totally forgot to check out our board yesterday. Happy Birthday aggiebug! Hope it was a lovely, quiet 😉 day.
Gave myself a trim and layer yesterday and my hair feels so light; didn't think I cut off that much. No more perm damaged ends! Yesterday was our usual grocery day and today I'm getting back to the gym after two weeks, with the holiday and my cold. I am so glad to finally feel good enough to go!
I feel bad because I forgot to pack N a snack yesterday. She had to get one from the office.
lilyelayne colds have been rough this year. I think N has been sick since Aug (day one of school...). I feel like I may need to up my vitamin intake (I only take a hair/nail gummy). And maybe start one for the girls??
Do any of your kids get vitamins and why? I figured if my pedi didn't feel like we needed to in the past and they get it through a rounded diet, I wouldn't. They've been fairly healthy. But now I'm wondering if they could booste the immune system enough that she doesn't get EVERY cold that comes her way and then pass it on to us. I am usually in the camp that vitamins are unnecessary but *shrugs* Do you take vitamins?
Hello hello. Thank you for all the birthday wishes, it was a good day!
Today I found out we have mice in the garage/attic AND bats. 😭😭😭. Worse it's going to be a shit ton of money to get them gone and they can't just remove bats it's illegal. So it's a process and we might have bats sealed in our house till... May?
dreemkin I take a prenatal vitamin since I’m breastfeeding. G takes a prescription multivitamin with fluoride since our water isn’t fluoridated.
This year since we’re getting more cold viruses thanks to school, I’ve started giving G elderberry syrup when he starts showing any cold symptoms. It’s a traditional cold treatment. At least one study has shown it to reduce length of cold & flu symptoms but it hasn’t been rigorously studied much. Commercially produced syrup also has zinc & magnesium, usually. I grabbed some elderberry gummies for me. Since having kids I tend to have the strongest immune system in the house, so who knows if the elderberry/zinc is making my cold symptoms less awful than DH & the boys’ or what.
Finished decorating the tree today and set up the nativity. I also finished some paperwork that I've been procrastinating since September. Very glad to check that off my list. Other thay that it was a quiet day at home. V went out and played in the snow a bit while A was napping. Thought about Christmas cards but didn't put any actual effort to them.
So picked up my phone and realized I didn't hit past earlier, now I look and there's bats inside aggiebug's house, not okay. Sorry aggiebug
dreemkin, our boys take a multivitamin, but not everyday cause I don't remember, so it's usually when someone is sick. Ice been perusing the vitamin aisle looking for a new one for myself, I think it helps.
I'm sorry aggie. The mice make me more upset! We occassionally have signs of them in the basement but rarely catch any (despite having like 20 different types of traps set haha). My hope is that they just find their way back out! I hope the bat removal process isn't too difficult and they stay in the attic until then!
N has had a substitute for two weeks now and will continue to for at least next week. They are trying to have it be the same sub until her teacher is back. But N has said multiple times now that she wants to stay home from school. It guts me. She used to love school. Today she asked why she can't have more days off. I feel horrible.
I finished up the tinsel today on the tree and it's now done! Looks great and seems to be taking in a lot of water! Debating starting to wrap gifts today.
Hello hello. S has been obsessed with seeing Santa, which isn't an annual tradition for us, so today we made it to Bass pro shop to see the free Santa. S was so thrilled. C on the other hand excitedly waved from 10 ft away . Then they found the kinetic sand table for 30 minutes and have me pondering if it's worth it for an winter activity... I may stick with dried peas or beans or something.
And I have no flipping clue what to get S from Santa. She just doesn't play with toys really. We keep things small over all, no gift from parents this year one gift from Santa but I would really like it to be something that would catch her attention. Not like books and crafts which are good presents just not Santa if that makes sense. I was hoping Santa might encourage something. What did she say when he asked:. What ever you give me Santa 🤦
aggiebug I was debating trying to make kinetic sand instead of our usual gingerbread play dough. And I hear ya about Santa. It's a time to give a frivolous gift! Anna asked for a sloth stuffed animal she saw in an ad and the Old Timer clock from Toy Story of Terror. One of those they don't even make. I went with a Nintendo Switch for all of us from Santa 😉. They are obsessed with watching H play all of the old Zelda games. And we were headed toward getting one anyway. They have also been asking for hatchimals (also frivolous) so that's what we are giving to them. And then there's St Nick Day stockings coming up and birthdays....
dreemkin sorry N is struggling with not wanting to go to school. G went through a short phase where he was over school & would rather hang out with me & the baby, but it passed pretty quickly.
aggiebug aww how sweet “whatever you give me, Santa!” Is there anything of yours that she loves & Santa could bring her one- like a necklace or a mirror compact or a purse?
dreemkin hugs to N hopefully things get back to normal soon and sure is back to loving school again soon.
lilyelayne I love G's interests. He gets so focused on such diverse and fun subjects.
As for S her favorite thing is my undivided attention ha. She likes my makeup? I am giving her a thing of colored Chapstick in her stocking (it will stay in my drawer). I am thinking a wellie wisher doll as I can get one that comes with a book a few outfits and accessories. She likes my doll and plays with it some but having her own might be nice. Oh and we can brush her hair which she might like and my doll you can't do that and more.
aggiebug those are really cute dolls. Costco has them. How about board games she and you could play?
my sister already got her 2 games for birthday. It was a thought of mine but we have enough games I don't really want to get more for Christmas and that is the set I was thinking of. Although now we have Sam's not Costco and their set is a little different. Hoping my neighbor can help me out.
I got a few gifts wrapped yesterday! But I am out of holiday wrapping paper finally (been using the same rolls for years). I have to pick up some of that! I mostly use printed tissue paper to wrap, especially for smaller, boxed gifts. I like the softer look of the tissues paper. I got a pack from Costco for the first time this year. They have foil ones in there along with glittery and confetti ones. This makes me happy 😁
aggiebug N has been into Barbie layely - I think it stemmed from Toy Story. She has a few Christmas Barbie movies too. My mom is getting her some dolls for her birthday. She'll love that. And she got the realistic body size ones so double yay! She told me she wanted a Ken doll but some where odd looking, had man buns haha. I guess Ken is Hipster now.
lilyelayne oh no! Could you go to an immediate care and get some meds? Antibiotics always kick in pretty quickly for me. Hope you don't have to cancel your trip!
We heard A saying "stupid" tonight and we said "we don't use that word; it's not nice". And she said: but Santa says it to his reindeer... I was confused but turns out she meant Cupid 😂
dreemkin I laughed at stupid Cupid. I probably should (could?) have started a round of prednisone last night & woke up feeling better, but it’s supposed to rain all weekend and vacation solo parenting two kids in the rain while sick... just seems like a bad plan.
