Hello everyone,
A family debacle and we brothers are fighting with each other for a bigger chunk of hereditary goods. Our parents passed away last year and their home was left vacant for 6 months straight. When my parent's attorney informed us about the will, we noticed that nothing had been written down about the antique furniture that was left within the house. None of us can claim legal heirship to anything left out of the will. We have decided to audit the furniture and then decide on the future course of action. They lived in the suburbs of the city and the place was better off when my parents were alive. For 6 months, the place has been without maintenance and the furniture is vulnerable to moisture and cracking. Since we all live away from this place, we cannot afford to look for maintenance every time. We thought affording a self-storage would be a better option. But self-storage is also placed in open spaces and changing weather can affect the contents of the storage. We looked for storages which can have climate controlled features for storing furniture. The procedures and legal movements could take a lot of time than expected. So safekeeping the furniture would be a better option than leaving it to rot. All of our memories are bound by the house and the furniture has been there as part of our growing up. If anyone could share with me their experience of using such a facility would help me.
Thanks in advance.
