Does anyone know more about LASIK eye surgery?

Hi,
My daughter has astigmatism from her school days. She has eyeglasses for that but still, there is no improvement in her vision. My friend is an ophthalmologist and she lives in London. When I contacted her she suggested LASIK eye surgery. That was the first time I heard about it.
I consulted a LASIK eye surgery clinic in Toronto. They did certain tests and scheduled the surgery for next month. As its the safest elective procedure I'm confident about it. Does anyone know more about LASIK eye surgery? Please share your knowledge.
