Wanted to get some information and opinions from people.
My husband and I have been married for 5 years and have been having unprotected sex the whole time. We were actively trying for about 18 months with no success.
I have PCOS, extremely irregular cycles. I had an initial infertility appointment with my GYN who did some blood tests, HSG, etc. everything came back normal. Husbands semen analysis also came back normal. So now we get to go to an infertility clinic and talk to them.
So I have been exploring our options at this point. My younger sister is autistic, and there is some high functioning autism on my husbands side of the family. We are considering doing a donor egg and donor sperm OR an embryo adoption in order to help keep odds more on our side for avoiding an autistic child.
That being said, I read that embryo adoption is a cheaper option but it seems to have many more rules/regulations. I am 32 so I fit inside the age range that is generally recommended, but I am overweight and I am reading that they don't want you to be overweight. I have been trying to lose weight, but I have PCOS and that makes it harder.
So I guess my question is does anyone know, or have a source, that the average financial difference between embryo adoption and getting a donor egg and donor sperm. ?
Honestly, I am not sure doing either of these things will happen as we don't know what actually causes autism although there is a strong genetic link. Is it even worth venturing down these roads to try and help out our odds? or should we just try out the clomid and the natural way?
Sorry for the long post, and thank you in advance for any responses/advice
