Hi folks, Last night, the oven element broke in half, and sparks went off even after I turned off all the controls. I manually switched off the range breaker. When this happened a few months before, I had called the nearby electrical repair services. They had replaced the element with OEM replacement. They had made sure that all wiring was secure, and made sure that the element connections are not making contact with the back cover panel. So this time I decided to go DIY and did the exact same thing. But when I switched the range breaker on, the main breaker to entire apartment unit trips. Why did this happen? Why did the range breaker just trip instead of the main? Is it something that I can fix? Or should I call the electrician? Is this any problem associated with the oven? Any help is appreciated.
