That dress price is kind of high. Is there any other options? I know for mine I did all the same color dresses at David's bridal but let everyone pick their own dress. That way people spent the money but they picked the dress that fit them best.
I don't think any of mine were more than like $150?

mels823 I agree that $260 seems steep, however at least your dress has the chance of fitting! My friend picked and bought dresses for us that she found for $35 without checking how they'd fit us...in spite of warnings, she chose and ordered a dress shape that would probably work nicely on her but is completely wrong for our body types (we've both got curves; the bride doesn't). The dresses also have NO chance of fitting my breastfeeding boobies without some sort of alterations that will likely cost 2 or 3x more than the dress itself. I'd probably rather spend more money on a nice dress I'll actually be able to be comfortable in than this fail attempt at being frugal lol.
FlutterOfYoshis, ugh, that sucks!!! I hope you can make it work. I was in a wedding in October when I was 26 weeks pregnant and getting the dress altered to fit my bump was such a bitch. In your situation, I don't know why people don't understand that women have all different body shapes and what looks good on one person might not look the same on another...!I can't imagine getting my breastfeeding boobies to fit into anything that I can normally wear. These things are insane!
Mom's flight was cancelled again. However, she should be out on Wednesday and they've shifted her departure to the next Wednesday to make up for it. Here's hoping she's able to get out.
mels823, that is a lot of dough for the dress, one of my friends wanted j.crew bm dresses that were the same price. My only suggestion would be to try eBay-I got mine on there for $100 and it was new, just from the previous season. If it is a popular brand and not one of their house brands maybe you can get a deal. I actually then sold it on eBay for like $10 bc I got crap on it but figured there was some bm out there who didn't want to spend $250 on a dress to wear once.
mrszee, that's brilliant and I would have never thought of that.
When I got married I only had two bridesmaids and I bought both of their dresses because I didn't think it was fair to say, "Hey! I'd love for you to be in my wedding! Now I need a check." Do a lot of people not do that? I think we paid for all the groomsmen rentals, too.

We bought our bridesmaids' dresses too, but I don't think it's common. I've been in 4 weddings and always had to buy my own dress.

It's a good thing I don't have any friends, then. Too broke.
We didn't buy the bm dresses or rent the tuxes but I want to say the dresses were $150 from Ann Taylor and I didn't specify shoes. Looking back I wish I would have just done something cheaper at David's. I think they now have something like rent the runway for bm's which I would endorse.
MrsPavlov, thanks I did order a new dress to ensure they were *exactly* the same and they were so new $$ dress went back!!
eta: I have had to buy my own dress for every wedding I have been in and DH has had to get his own tux.
So here is a non baby related post for spam today...
How much is too much money to spend on a bridesmaid dress?
I'm the MOH in my sister's wedding. She was over visiting LO on Friday and I asked her what she was thinking of for bridesmaid dresses. She said she already picked them out and showed them to me on the Nordstrom website. The dress is so pretty and I love it.... But then I noticed how much it cost... $260! sheesh! My heart skipped a beat I think. I am 5 feet tall exactly so every dress I buy always needs to be altered. I'm guessing after alterations I'll be spending about $300 on this dress. To me that seems like a lot! Am I just cheap?
$10 is too much to spend on the dress.
I come from the raising that you don't pay to play a roll in someone else's wedding. There are three girls in my family and my mother paid for all the dresses. That was 14 dresses in all spread amongst the three weddings.
mels823, I agree with the other ladies, that seems like a ton of money to spend on a dress. I'm pretty frugal though, I struggle spending 50 dollars on a dress.
