I am about to start a blanket that calls for worsted weight self striping or multi yarn such as Noro Kureyon. I'm looking for a yarn rec that is washable though. Noro is dry clean only and I just can't fathom making something like a blanket with it when I have 2 young kids.
I love HiKoo Simplicity but am not crazy about their two multi options.
Kureyon is still one of the prettiest yarns around, but, man is it not blanket yarn- way too rough. What blanket are you working on? Does it require a true precise striping yarn, or is hand dyed an option?

Check out Etsy for hand dyed yarns. There are some AMAZING indie dyers on there with self striping or variegated yarn and many will have super easy bases in wool or merino. Much nicer for a kids blanket.

Hand dyed would definitely work. It's the Pop Blanket that I'm making.

Do you have a favorite? I find that I want ALL of them, get overwhelmed, and buy nothing.

Easy to do. Do you want bright or muted/naturals? Self striping or just variegated/coloured? I can give you a few recommendations to take a look at : )

Dying yarn is so easy- if you want a wool or cotton (or hey, a nylon or rayon).
Pop would be ideal for that, if you have the interest, since it's many small areas that need to be different colors. Does it need to be washable like "I'd like to be able to wash this in the machine, but, I'm okay washing it on gentle with color catchers and hang drying" or "I'm making this for someone who will ignore any instructions i give her and wash it with velcro and zippers on hot and dry it with the hottest dryer possible"?
If you're not interested in that (I get it!) and you've already looked through the yarns used in the Pop Ravelry pool, check Noro Striped Scarf and Lizard Ridge , too- they're the two I could think of off the top of my head that rec' Kureyon and have huge FO pools.

Cmeon is right, you could dye your own yarn with food colouring or kool aid, if you want to experiment. That's where I started off and the only thing I'll say is that you don't get colours that are as vibrant or varied, than the yarn dyed with professional dyes.
