How the f do I add my ticker to my signature?

I tried adding this: <img src="http://global.thebump.com/tickers/tt1bee13.aspx?&amp;fake.png">

That's not right. (as you can tell from my current signature)

Please break it down for me dummy style because apparently I just have issues.

On page 3 of Greetings and Salutations, th ere is a thread called "BBC for dummies" or some thung like that. It gives step by step instructions. I'm challenged too.

Put [*img] right in front of your ticker code (just the part between the quotation marks) and [*/img] right after it, without the stars and no spaces.

Question...if your not supposed to type the * (stars) why do they type them in the instructions in the first place?? Is this some computer code crap I am ignorant of.

If you put them in there without the stars, the system will read them as html code and try to use them as such, so the formatting of your post might get all wonky. I'll try it here and see what happens. 

You need to type before your link and [/img] after. 

Edited to add: Yeah, looks like the [*img] just sort of disappeared into the internet ether.

I know nothing about computer code, but when I tried to type it without the asterisk it posted some weird way and the code didn't show. Like this:

What Kirabou said. As soon as the system sees that code, it starts trying to display a picture. So if it's not actually the code for a picture, if you're just trying to show somebody the code, it just gets all screwed up. But with the stars, it's the wrong code so it doesn't try to do anything and just displays what you typed.
