Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself and ask a question. I am 16 weeks with baby number two after I had 28 week pprom with my son. He held in and was delivered at exactly 31 weeks and spent 30 days in the nicu. This pregnancy I have developed a subchirionic hemorrhage, low lying placenta and am being monitored by MFM every two weeks for cervical ultrasounds.
I'm starting p17 injections tomorrow and wanted to know if any of you have any advice or have had any side effects to share? I was on the progesterone suppositories for the first tri (had a loss back in the fall) and the suppositories seemed to go well without major effects. Just wondering if anyone had info in the p17? I'm a huge baby when it comes to needles but will do anything to help this little one stay in longer! Thanks!
Hi and sorry for the risky pregnancy. I started the 17P shots 4 weeks ago at 20w when they found my cervix disappeared. I really haven't found them to be bad at all! I was warned they are painful but they feel like a regular shot/ needle prick to me. It does take a while going in and it gets a tiny bit sore at the injection site for a day or two.
Side effects I've noticed are sorer boobs again, a small increase in my morning sickness, and a couple of migraines though I'm not sure if that's related. I was also on progesterone suppositories during first tri and didn't mind those too much either. Good luck!!

Thanks for the replies. Had my first shot today and it wasn't too bad. Just feeling a little sore which is no big deal. Hoping the rest go this smoothly and these help baby stay put until full term.
I think they got better each week and less painful. Not sure if my body just started getting used to them but I also notice some nurses are better then others. I had one shot that was extremely painful and left me with a huge knot that was hot...you could feel the heat coming off my body. I iced it and also used heat and it seemed to help. I got the prescription shipped to my house and I took the vial in to the dr each week so I was able to warm up the liquid and it did seem to help. I kept the vial in my bra on the drive to the clinic and then held it in my hand to keep it warm. GL! I didn't have too many issues with them. They seemed to do the trick as DD was born 9 days after my last shot. Last shot was 36 weeks and she was born at 37+2. Ahead of scheduled C but better then being super early!
I had the shots with my 2nd. I found they got worse as a went further long in my pg - but it was also summer in FL. My biggest side effect was sore itchy butt. Invest in some huge gramma style undies. I also started wearing dresses so nothing touched my butt.
