Pissed!!!

I had 6 PMs waiting for me (on the Bump) when I signed on from some newbs who wanted the link to here.  I assume they came across my post in a newbies' "lost" intro post last night.  Most of them, if not all were very confused and I got the impression they have no idea the magnitude of what went down on the Bump last week.

What do you guys think about drafting up some sort of explanation/flyby thread about what happened over there? Then we will have sort of a canned response about why everyone is so hurt/angry over the ankle-grab courtesy of XO.


ETA:  This is going to be a P&R, I'm not sure how much time I'll have to be on tomorrow morning/afternoon.  I'll check back as soon as I can.

I'd love that. I was relatively new over there and only really checked in on the names board. I've caught in that something huge went down but I don't really know what. I came across here as alot of the regulars that I liked reading responses from came. I haven't been back to TB since so I really have no clue what's happening.

Yes. When I said I was annoyed that adults continued to perpetuate these racist jokes, a poster said that maybe the problem was me since I was applying race to all these names.

Can I provide some clarity to the "global mod" situation since it's one of those things that I think was really misconstrued.


Back in October 2014, 5 of the current moderators had a phone call with Carley Roney, the co-founder and former Chief Content Officer of XO group. During this conversation we all expressed our desire for XO group to add a group of "Super Mods" to the administration roster. These mods would preferably be hired from a candidate pool of current moderators, it would be a part time (10-15 hour a week) PAID position to deal with after-hours website issues that tended to pop up (such as IP bans, personal information, etc). This was requested because while we were only required to "volunteer" a minimum of 3 hours a week for our moderator positions, many of us found ourselves online dealing with issues at all hours of the day and night, cutting into time with our spouses and into our professional lives.

Originally several of the then-current mods were included on the proposal to XO group for this new program. Due to "budget constraints" they decided to pilot the program with just one "Super Mod" and it was then announced who that mod would be on January 12th, 2015. This mod would only oversee issues on the Infertility and Loss boards, and primary responsibility for day-to-day moderator tasks would still fall to the board-elected moderators.
