violajack, do you feel like the two drawers together hold the same amount of dishes as a traditional DW? Do both drawers have places to put silverware? I'm getting super interested in F&P drawers. I love that you don't have to wait for an entire dishwasher to fill up before you run a cycle. But I also want to make sure I have enough room for when we're entertaining.
Both drawers have silverware holders. The upper drawer can do 12" plates and the lower can do 10". I do think the two can easily hold as much or more than a single dishwasher. I think we get more in because each side has secondary fold down thingies, so I can get two levels of glasses and cups on the far left, a row of bowls, a row of plates and assorted lids/small plates on the fold downs on the far right.
For us, it's all about having a free drawer to put dirties in without having to empty a clean one first. We eventually get around to putting dishes away, but dirties don't pile up on the counter in the meantime.
Ours has successfully contained the clean up from a party of six adults and 3 kids with dinner dishes in one and miscellaneous prep and dessert stuff in the other. You could also run a prep load during dinner, run the other with dinner dishes, then after dessert, clean out the clean prep load and fill that drawer with dessert, and have everything clean before the drinking (or cards against humanity game) ends.
Can you tell I love it?
You're selling me on it so much. I wish they weren't quite so pricey, but this is our forever house so we're trying to keep that in mind when we make investments.
I took a quick pic of the lower still full of clean. This is about 3/4 full. I could stuff more in there. But yeah, it's basically 2 dishwashers, so it costs twice as much.
Honestly, Meesh, I don't think they're all they're cracked up to be. At the least run of mill ones. I was reading a minimalist blog today about how hand washing dishes immediately after use helps clear literal and mental clutter. I actually felt very accomplished today as I washed and dried everything right after use and put it away. Maybe we should all do a hand washing challenge with dishes since you and I will be doing it already
My dish washer runs completely full 2-3x/day and I still hand wash all the pots and pans and stuff. I would die without my dishwasher.
I noticed that. But it gets great reviews in all of the other places I've looked.
Need to be careful with amazon reviews- idiots will give a product 1 star if the shipping was slow; box was ripped; customer service was bad. A lot of times negative reviews are based on the seller not product
The dishdrawers have to be installed by someone who knows them, or will read and follow directions carefully. If the drain hoses aren't done right, the upper drawer will empty into the lower. From what I read before we got them, a lot of problems come from bad installs.

I believe it. Your family is twice as big as mine, though. Stop dissing small appliances, lol.
Ffmc I gave the toaster oven back already. That's the only appliance I dissed and really I can see how it would be handy, just not handy enough to give up my coveted counter space.
I won't count the number of times I have gotten irritated with my dishwasher and used it for a drying rack while I handwashed my dishes.....in just this house. I've never had a dishwasher that I have loved 100% of the time....I'd be happy to have one I loved more than 50% of the time right now, but not going there.
