Welcome to the PAIF 1st tri check-in. Please let me know if you'd like to be added, your EDD, and how many beans are cooking if you know. The check-in will be posted weekly on Monday (read: late Sunday night so I don't forget).
A few questions to get you started: How far are you now? How are you feeling? What and when is your next appointment? Anything else you'd like to share or discuss?
How far are you now? 11 weeks 1 day How are you feeling? Like this bleeding shit needs to cut it out. Still no m/s, tired, etc. What and when is your next appointment? Today. U/s due to bleeding Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? TP to my cervix. Wtf, cervix? I started spotting (in my normal way) on Saturday and then it got reddish yesterday. I started weaning off endometrin yesterday, but the spotting started before that. Seriously, w.t.f.
QOTW: What's your favorite vacation spot and why? Italy. Like bostongirl617, I've been going gluten light, but seafood pasta in Venice is the best. It's also gorgeous there. And I like all the murano glass.
How are you feeling? Still pretty tired not sure if it's because work has been insane or if it's still from just being pregnant. Sore boobs. That's about it
What and when is your next appointment? I have an appt with the MFM doctor tomorrow to hopefully get some answers and an ultrasound and sit down with my RE on Friday. So nervous, this is going to be a long week.
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? I can't wait to be done with this progesterone. It's so gross, I'm itchy, the panty liners are annoying and barely help! I have a couple weeks left.
bostongirl617 Eeee! I'm so jealous you're cleared for running! I hope I can join you in that relatively soon. And that's awesome about the 140+ h/b. I'd read the "Keep your h/b under X!!" was outmoded so I hope my OB can safely tell me the same thing.
lilyharper GL at today's u/s. Hopefully it just shows run-of-the-mill, totally boring 11w1d type of stuff.
ETA: luchich Will be thinking of you tomorrow. I hope you can get some comforting expert guidance from the MFM.
How far are you now? 7 weeks even, if measurements from last week's u/s hold steady tomorrow. 7w3d by ER date.
How are you feeling? Still with the very low-grade nausea here and there, but nothing remarkable. Occasionally noticing sore boobs (again, a here-or-there thing). Still more tired than I'm used to. Getting teary-eyed at the drop of a dime. But really, I can't complain. I went on a 4-mile walk yesterday! It was the best! It was along my normal running route, which made me itch to run (obvs I didn't; haven't been cleared to).
What and when is your next appointment? 2nd official pg u/s with the RE tomorrow.
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? Just hoping everything's going along normally, and that we'll see continued growth and h/b tomorrow. Part of my brain says everything's fine; part says everything's over. I'll just be lurking 2nd and 3rd tri check-ins to scope all the PCOSers who have made it out of the woods, because...
***hypothetical loss related to PCOS mentioned*** I made the monumental mistake of googling the reasons for increased PCOS m/c rates and found a really alarming study, which I won't even describe here. It of course freaked me the fuck out, and I wish I could un-see it, especially with tomorrow's u/s looming. ***end content warning***
QOTW: What's your favorite vacation spot and why? Hehe, nomnom, we both have vacations on the brain today! (See GTKY thread.) For a let's-do-stuff vacation, you'll never get me to turn down a trip to Paris. For a let's-do-nothing vacation, Harbour Island in the Bahamas (tiny island off Eleuthera) is a complete gem.
I stopped hormone supps last Friday, and the biggest thing I've noticed is that my belly bloat has gone done just a bit. It's nice to not feel quite as huge as I was starting to feel last week and to be able to hide the belly a little better today. Still so tired, though.
Tomorrow is my last u/s w/ the RE before I will hopefully graduate. Really starting to get nervous...
I've had a cold for the past week. It sucks because everything I would normally do to get over it isn't allowed while pg. Plus I've been reading that sickness can last longer when you're pg because you're immune system is weakened. Really hoping I can get past this soon, the coughing is killing me.
QOTW: St. Thomas. We went for our honeymoon, then went back a few years ago because we loved it so much. Warm weather, beaches, great food, and good rum...what more could you ask for?!
DX: MFI TTC April 2011 BFP #1 7/15/11, EDD 3/22/12 - CP Varicocelectomy surgery 9/4/12 - T improved to normal, but still MFI IVF #1 w/ ICSI Jan 2015 - 11R/6M/6F, ET of a 3AB expanded blast w/ none to freeze.
How far are you now? 11w2d! (I can't believe I can say that!)
How are you feeling? My m/s has gotten a lot better for the last few days. I'm not sure if the mini-meals I'm choosing are helping more than others or if it's just because I'm getting close to end of the 1st tri. Either way, I'm pretty happy about that!
What and when is your next appointment? It was supposed to be today, but mh can't make it after all, so I rescheduled it for next Wednesday. It'll be our first ob appointment, and includes another u/s.
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? Completely random, but I wish I liked eggs better. I'm not great about getting enough protein, and hard boiled eggs are so easy to bring to work and eat at my desk. But they're kind of bland and boring.
QOTW: What's your favorite vacation spot and why? Mountains! Basically because there's few to no people and there's nothing to distract me. I mentioned our Gatlinburg trip in today's GTKY- part of why I loved it so much (aside from the overall good time we spent together) was hiking Chimney Top in the Smoky Mountains Park. It started to rain, so I couldn't climb all the way up the rocks at the top, but it was still awesome. I almost fell off the side of the mountain on our way up to the rocks, which was pretty exciting! I mean, the trees would have stopped me, so I probably would have just ended up with a couple of broken bones, but in that moment it was such a rush to have to make the right decision in a split second. The hike would have been awesome without that moment too, of course. We're going to go camping soon, I hope. And I'm going to climb those darn rocks sometime after I have this kid!
I'm 5w4d with an EDD of Nov. 12th. MS is coming with a vengeance. I wish i could just throw up, somehow, i think it would make me feel better. Also, no more plain toast for me. My next appointment is Thursday. I go in for my first u/s and I'm a hot mess about it. I will be 6w that day and it's a placement/hopefully see a HB that day. Other than that, I'm barely starting awake during the day, anyone have tips to survive that?
QOTW my fave vacation spot is the beach. I love relaxing on the sand and getting in the water. It's magical.
lilyharper, - I hope that bleeding gets the eff out of here. How frustrating. luchich, bluefairy5, Smootiepie, GL tomorrow! I'm hoping for super awesome updates! sewfie2, - GL next week! MH was so bummed he couldn't make my first appointment, thankfully it was just with the nurse and it wasn't anything exciting. So as much as it sucks that you have to wait another week, I totally get that.
AFM: How far are you now? 9w5d
How are you feeling? My m/s has gotten pretty bad the past week-week and a half. It went from being nauseous all the time, to randomly throwing up once in a while. I really hope this passes after my first trimester.
What and when is your next appointment? Not until April 30th. It's just so weird to go from being constantly monitored by an RE, to normal once a month appointments with an OB.
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? 4 more days till spring!
QOTW: What's your favorite vacation spot and why? Once a year MH and I spend a weekend in Rockport/Cape Ann. It's my all time favorite, and I'd love to just move out that way. There's dogs everywhere, and Rockport has that cute little boardwalk with all the shops, and the delicious bakery.
lilyharper, I worry spotting from weaning will happen to me too. My dr is weaning me from all meds at 10 weeks. I'm a little nervous but trying to trust her. GL and hopefully it goes away soon!
luchich, I hope you get some reassuring information from your appt tomorrow. And progesterone suppositories are super gross! I was told to switch from PIO to supps and they freaking suck! I used them for IUI cycles in the past but you know, the shots aren't so bad and I actually prefer them.
Smootiepie, I had a cold for about a week and a half and am just starting to feel better now. Not being able to take meds sucks. I used saline nasal spray, drank lots of hot tea, and rested. Surprisingly, I felt better much sooner and the cold wasn't nearly as bad as usual. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe all the meds aren't so great. Either way, I hope you feel better soon!
sewfie2, if you eat salad, chop up the eggs and hide them in there. Or try a breakfast sandwich so that your taste buds aren't focused on just the eggs. Worth a shot!
@ketchup, GL at your u/s tomorrow. I get really nervous for mine as well. My OB isn't seeing me until a week after my RE was hoping so she said I could come back for another u/s to ease my mind. I haven't set it up yet because it gives me anxiety thinking about it. I know there's nothing they can do if things aren't going well, so I'm not sure I see the point. I think I'd rather be happy another week thinking all is ok (if for some reason something bad ended up happening later on). Yes, I'm crazy lol.
AFM: How far are you now? 8w2d
How are you feeling? Shitty! M/s is no joke. I'll be glad when it gets better.
What and when is your next appointment? First OB appt is on 3/24 and then I'll expect to be referred to a high risk/multiples dr.
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? We finally told our very close family members about our pregnancy and twins news. We're so close with them and hangout together a few times a week. It's been tough keeping the secret. Everyone was floored. It felt so good to share good news with our family in a time when our uncle is undergoing chemo and not responding well. I haven't told him yet, waiting just a couple more weeks. Our family really needed something positive to think about and they're all really excited
QOTW: What's your favorite vacation spot and why? My favorite vacation spot is somewhere peaceful and quiet, which is usually a beach (anywhere!)
Post by fluffydamn on Mar 16, 2015 10:25:32 GMT -5
How far are you now? Suppose to be 7w5d by transfer date but baby is measuring 6w3d
How are you feeling? Boobs are sore and nauseous a lot.
What and when is your next appointment? Next Thursday
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? I'm just such a nervous wreck now. The sac is measuring small. The baby grew but he said he should be able to see the head and such by now. The little peanut still had a heartbeat of 107bpm. He said that it could still go either way. For now baby is still hanging in there. Such a fighter. I'll post a ultrasound pic to see what you guys think later when I get to a computer.
sewfie2, I second the suggestion to season your eggs. Also greek yogurt is good for extra protien.
megrae12, I've had m/s that bad. TMI, but it might be worth it to try and throw up.
@ketchup, Everything crossed for you and tiny tomato tomorrow!!!
@dyork and astop87, Sorry the m/s seems to be kicking butts!!
fluffydamn, FX that your little fighter keeps on fighting!!
AFM: How far are you now? 11w6d
How are you feeling? Not so bad today. Last few days though, m/s has been killing me later in the evenings, so it may still come.
What and when is your next appointment? Tomorrow morning!! I finally freaking get that U/S!!! I just don't know how those unaware of IF go this long without freaking out! I'm not sure how I've made it this long.... oh wait, it's everyone here!!!
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? I am soooo looking fwd to this 2nd tri energy kick everyone speaks of!! Especially with setting up the new house and going back to work soon. I'm gonna need the energy.
QOTW: What's your favorite vacation spot and why? My fav spot is Bermuda! I highly recommend it! Take the Norwegian ship out of NYC. Gives you a few days to explore Bermuda shopping and pink sand beaches!!! Best part is, there are no heavily armed guards at the port, and if you walk back to the ship at 1AM from a beach side party, you are SAFE!! Can't wait to go back some day!!
Me: 33 DH: 34 Unexplained Infertility Off BCP Sept 2012. Referred to RE Oct 2013 Testing done Nov/Dec 2013 *IUI #1-#4 2/14-7/14 7/2014- DH and I decided to stop TTC and focus on us. 1/24/15- Surprise BFP!!!! Little E born 10/7/15!!
bostongirl617, this is probably a silly question, but s seasoning salt salty? I use black pepper now, but I'm not real big on salty things.
@ketchup, mh had a glass of wine and I could smell it from 5 ft away. The scent was so intoxicating (pun intended) that it was almost impossible to not have a sip.
@dyork, it does suck to wait, but it helps him feel more connected, and he's better at remembering the questions I want to ask.
astop87, I do like the creaminess eggs add to salad, but I've mostly lost my appetite for salads.
fluffydamn, thinking about you and your little peanut.
firstbbq, it does feel that way! I think it's not fair that the first two weeks are counted when you can't even be pregnant. It's like, you're a month before you even know it! Also, that cabin sounds awesome.
@ginnyjones, yay for being so close to your u/s! And I actually have some greek yogurt for my afternoon snack. Great minds and all that
bostongirl617 and bluefairy5 - I am missing the running, too. I was also told to keep my heart rate under 140, which means I can run for about 30 seconds at a time
luchich - I agree, the progesterone suppositories suck. Such a mess! Also, FX for your appt tomorrow!
Smootiepie _ I am so scared of getting sick. All of my students sounded horrible last week (the week before spring break). I am hoping they get some rest and come back healthy so they don't get me sick!
@ketchup - FX that little tomato moves to the front of the class this week!
astop87 - That sounds like wonderful timing with sharing your news!
fluffydamn - So sorry to hear you're in limbo. FX that your little bean kicks things into high gear!
How are you feeling? Not too bad. Random extreme tiredness comes and goes, and very low grade nausea. Otherwise, very little - which, of course, makes me nervous.
What and when is your next appointment? 1st u/s on Wednesday!
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? I want to tell family when we see them this weekend. I hate lying and pretending I feel fine. DH doesn't want to yet, though
QOTW: What's your favorite vacation spot and why? Right now, Belize beach sounds amazing. I would sleep the heck out of that lounge chair!
Post by SweetieShellie on Mar 16, 2015 12:49:21 GMT -5
How far are you now? 10w4d
How are you feeling? Soooooooo tired. I'm off today, and I got up at 5:30am to make DH's lunch. Was up until maybe 7am, lied on the couch, and only woke up at 12:40pm. M/S is still kicking my butt. My tummy feels yucky all the time. Dh hates the m/s almost as much as me, since I never know what I want to eat if anything at all, and he really wants to see me eat.
What and when is your next appointment? I have my first OB app. next Thursday, I'll be 12w exactly. The next day I have my NT scan. I'm having it done at the RE's office (they let you book u/s there even if ur no longer a pt as long as you have a requisition). It's closer to DH's work, and I really want him there, and it'll be the first time he's allowed to go in to see the babies in person I won't book any more u/s at the clinic after this one though since I don't want to be the very obviously pregnant lady in the RE's office making the other ladies who are still waiting for their miracles feel uncomfortable and upset. I remember feeling a little sad when I could clearly hear a HB from an u/s coming from the room next door. I had to remind myself that the lady in that room has been waiting for that moment just like I'm waiting too. At least it's booked for the end of the day so I'm hoping there won't be anyone else around in the next room.
Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? Even though at this point I know the chances of a m/c have dropped substantially (A chart I was reading I think after 9w, it drops to 2% and remains at that level) I still worry that something bad is going to happen. I'm guessing that's not going to go away anytime soon.
Also, if I can go the rest of the day without any spotting, it'll be 2 whole weeks without any!!
QOTW: To be honest I haven't been on a vacation in 10 years, and that was with my parents when I was in college. The only place we'd ever go was to Madeira, Portugal, where my family is from. DH and I have talked about vacations (he wants to go to St. Lucia) but we haven't had the $$ or time to go (with our wedding in 2013, then going to the RE not long after) Maybe after the twins arrive we can try and save some $$ for a real vacation.
lilyharper I hope the bleeding isn't anything to worry about!!
SweetieShellie, thanks for the m/c info. I was wondering what the percentage was, but was a bit afraid to look it up. I hope your m/s goes away soon! Have you asked about getting an rx?
HOW FAR? 10w4d FEELING? Woah, rough week with the m/s. I lost 2 lbs this weekend and could only keep down Popsicles. My 2 year old boys rub my back and put their heads on my shoulder when I throw up, so I guess that's pretty sweet. NEXT APPOINTMENT? NT scan/ OB appt on 3/27
QOTW: Basically anywhere I can eat, drink, and read a good book. I did all of these things in Paris, Barcelona, and Italy and had a fabulous time. But, I do love the beach and some fruity drinks with umbrellas. I just can't decide!
Post by kensie5226 on Mar 16, 2015 14:35:59 GMT -5
Can I be added to this check-in? I will intro in a few minutes. I just got the official call from the RE.
How far are you now? 4 weeks. How are you feeling? Great. My boobs are already bigger and insanely sore. I had to buy new wireless bras. What and when is your next appointment? Wednesday, another hCG check. Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? Nothing yet, too over the moon.
QOTW: I think it's got be Napa. MH's family lives near there and it's just gorgeous.
TTC #1: March 2014 Dx: MFI Medicated IUI #1: March 2015-BFP Baby Girl born 11/5/2015! TTC #2: August 2016 Medicated IUI #1: Feb 2017-BFN Medicated IUI #2: March 2017-BFP Baby Boy expected Dec. 1
12w2d today. M/s is still sticking around, strong as ever. I got that U-shaped maternity pillow and DH calls it my "nest." It's comfy!
Next appointment is Wednesday for the NT scan. It'll be nice for DH to hear the heartbeats. My mom already bought matching sets of ducky onesies :-P.
QOTW: The place I've been that I'd most like to visit again is Scotland, just when it's not winter so we can hit the highlands and do some hiking. I'd also love to go to Italy. If I'm being realistic, maybe a cabin at a nearby park where DH and I can hide from the world for a few days.
Post by lilyharper on Mar 16, 2015 15:02:45 GMT -5
luchich, good luck this week! I thought you were done with your RE...why are you having to go back? bluefairy5, yeah, step away from the PCOS stats. megrae12, the only suggestion I have for the tiredness is to try to take advantage of the moments you aren't and get things done then. Like, if you get the random bouts of insomnia at 3 am and you haven't finished lesson planning for the day...take that hour and use it...not like I'm speaking from experience. sewfie2, I love eggs! Lately the smell of the pots after eggs have been in them is awful. But I all eggs @ketchup, can I +1 everything you just said? I love your counting method. I hope tiny tomato has its dancing shoes on tomorrow! @dyork, I love towns that have dogs around. I really like when they leave out the bowls of water...just strikes me as cute! astop87, if it makes you feel any better (and it should) my bleeding started BEFORE I started weaning. Which is why I'm pissed. Like...can't my spotting even be reliable with it's timing? Because then I would have understood. And sorry about the m/s, it's supposed to be worse with multiples... fluffydamn, I hope everything turns out ok. Was this at least a more thorough exam than last time? firstbbq, adults asked you?!? I teach high school and I'm terrified someone's going to ask me. ginnyjones82, I can't believe you lasted this long either! Is your OH going with you tomorrow? DrHooch, maybe say you haven't been feeling well, this way you don't have to pretend everything is ok? SweetieShellie, yay for no spotting! ruthie, that's cute about your boys.
Thanks for the love ladies! I managed to get an appointment with my ob instead of the NP they booked me with. My appointment is in a few hours. Spotting has gone back to a more normal state, but is definitely there. I'll update later.
SweetieShellie, I definitely understand that, I try to use mine only when I'm going to go into a training session and I'm already nauseated.
@buttmonkey, we're originally from the Florida gulf coast, and sometimes I miss all those silly tacky, touristy things. It was nice to indulge in it while we were in Gatlinburg. Also, your RE sounds so nice!
Little E born 10/7/15!!
sewfie2, I used to eat a salad a day plus a green shake every morning and now I can't eat either. There's something about healthy food that my body wants nothing to do with. I feel sorta bad about it. So I gave you advice that I can't follow either because I thought maybe I was the weird one... it's both of us
astop87, I miss my green smoothies! I've had a few since getting my bfp, but I hate going through the effort when I'm not sure if it's going to agree with me.
How are you feeling? It could be worse. I've got good days and bad, with the nausea lasting all day & night on the bad days. I've been eating through it in hopes I'll feel better... But have just managed to gain 6 pounds. Also, my sinuses are out of control so it's pretty much like week three of a cold. But...no vomiting yet, so I am grateful . What and when is your next appointment? In 2-3 weeks for the NT scan Anything else you'd like to share or discuss? Just another PAIF brain here. I keep telling myself that statistically, there is every reason to expect that this babe is here to stay...but it is hard to let the worry go.
QOTW: What's your favorite vacation spot and why? Anywhere with hiking & a river. Being outdoors grounds me.
