I chickened out. When I told him he wasn't going to be putting on a diaper he ran crying to his room pulled out a diaper and tried to put it on himself.
Maybe try talking up the underwear all week and try again this weekend paddyb? GL!
Like xanthepants, we're about 9 months in and we still have the occasional accidents. It mostly happens when she's "too busy" playing. We also always carry an extra set of pants and undies with us. The accidents are becoming farther and few inbetween, but at this point, you just never know. Actually, I feel like we have less accidents when we are out because she likes going to the public bathrooms. The accidents happen more when we are home.
or what about pull ups paddyb That way you could maybe trick him into thinking it's a diaper but attempt to sneak in some toilet time. GL!
He calls his pull-ups diapers. He apparently goes potty on the potty regularly at daycare (They suggested we switch to pull ups). He just doesn't for us.

that's funny you said that because every time we go to Target, A says he has to go pee. I have him pee before we leave the house, so I know it's not an emergency, he just likes the bathroom at Target.
It's embarrassing though because he always asks questions the whole time about the bathroom and the other people in it. ::toilet flush:: "what's that making sound?" the other bathroom. "who's in there?" I don't know, other people. "what are they doing?" THEY'RE GOING TO THE BATHROOM TOO, HURRY UP AND PEE AND STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS!
aimeefarrahfowler - She's so nosy in the bathroom. She always tries to glance under the stalls and asks what the other people are doing. She also likes the way her voice echos in the bathrooms, so she will make a noise over and over loudly to listen to herself. Its so embarrassing.

aimeefarrahfowler Tyler is like that too! Yesterday he popped in public and comes out and says, "Hey people, I get chocolate for going poopie!" I was so embarrassed. Also equally proud since it was his first public poop, haha!

Same here! He's had a few "off" days since we've PTed, one being today when he peed while at the kitchen table. He's been peeing much more often than normal today and I couldn't figure out why. Then I realized he ate half of a watermelon this morning. So I think that was it.
This weekend he woke up acting really upset and just not with it from his nap. I went to comfort him and he was just walking around the room crying "mommy." Then he started peeing on the floor!
I always have extra clothes with me still, because you really just never know! I wonder when I"ll stop doing that...

We were at a reasonably fancy hip restaurant the other night and she announces how she just made 2 giant turds in the potty and they stink. The bathroom was full of other women who burst out laughing. I felt so hip at that moment. Ahhhh toddler potty training, so humbling.

Just recently O starts waking up having overflowed his diaper in the morning. Wetness everywhere! What's the best nighttime option? He's wearing a size 6 Pampers Baby Dry during the day with no problems.

Sadie woke up with a dry diaper this morning, I put her on the potty and she peed for about 5 whole minutes. I was really excited for that. Then I realized that she *can* do it and is just choosing not to during the day. Then I got frustrated again. She's making progress though. Slowly but surely.

ThePinkSuperhero, Riley would leak through her overnight diapers on the reg so we bought some Select Kids diaper inserts. They're like maxi pads for toddlers. We order them from Amazon but you can usually find them at BRU too.

B always poops on the potty during bath time. He has been doing this for a vey long time. Shortly after he was 1. He is so routine that he literally will need to poop but will hold it until bath time. Well the other day we skipped bath and the next morning while I was nursing Abby he started pooping. He was comando in fleece footy Jammies and he shit. It went down into the foot!!! Blah so gross!! At least it was solid right!? Lol
cookiesandwine, maybe you need to take a break and wait a week or 2? I think it's really hard when they are being that stubborn and won't do it. But it's something she can control and at this age if they know that then they use it. I'm assuming you've tried bribes, but could you increase the bribes maybe?

She actually did a lot better yesterday; she was with my mom who started "racing" her to see who could pee first (PS my mom would kill me if she knew I was sharing that on the internet) and she responded really well. Today and tomorrow she'll be at daycare again with another little boy her age who has been potty trained for a while, so I'm hoping that rubs off. She just always does better with other people than she does at home/with us. She also does NOT want to wear diapers, at bedtime I have to put undies on over her diapers or else she throws a fit about being a big girl.
Well that's a good sign and going in the right direction. I know for Hanna sometimes to get her to go I give her the option of going 1st or me going first. Sometimes she just wants to see me go.

cookiesandwine we do pull-ups at night and I've made a huge deal about the being pull-ups and not diapers. He doesn't know they are basically the same thing, but at least that helps him get then on because pull-ups are for big boys, obviously.

This is how we convince b to do many things. He is big into racing and always points to you and says beat you! If your mom doesn't want to always pee too, using the timer on my phone works. I'll says quick lets see how fast you can go! He stars and stops the timer. Works like a charm!
Usually if I ask Kayleigh if she has to go, she will just tell me she is fine (even though I can see she is dancing). So sometimes I will tell her that I have to go, so we have to stop what we are doing to Mommy can go (this is usually when we are outside, at the park, etc so she has to come with me). Once we are inside, then she usually wants to go "first".

Last night, O was hanging around with a diaper right before bath time; he had been sitting on the potty for awhile but nothing happened. He was playing and jumping around, and all of a sudden he says, oh, peepees! I thought maybe he had started to pee somewhere but I didn't see any. So I say, oh, ok, go sit on the potty! He did and he peed (a LOT) on the potty! Ahhhhh I was so proud. I had been feeling doubtful he would be ready for a 3-day bootcamp sometime in the next month or two but now I feel confident that he will be!
mommymadness, oh my gosh - poop down the jammies, that is so gross but funny picturing it too...
cookiesandwine, sounds like she's testing you... As for undies over her diaper at night, Joey still does that too and insists on it most nights (and naptimes too).... don't anticipate that going away any time soon. We're still doing diapers at night and will be for awhile because she'll have 1 or 2 dry diapers in the morning but the next night it's soaked completely... i don't get it.
