Hey all. So I usually post in F15, but I have a question about DS1.
Is there anyone else who's LO doesn't have one word down? He's very interactive, loves being with people, and understands directions. I know boys generally develop slower than girls, but I can't help but feel frustrated that he hasn't progressed in speach at all. Anyone in the same boat as me?
Is he mimicking sounds and patterns at all? Like will he repeat something you say (even if it's just in syllable Count and inflection)? What did the pedi say at the last appointment? Not to worry you, but I think at this point they may want to look into it a little more.
Cam isn't saying much yet, either. The pediatrician said that his comprehension and responsive language skills seem normal, but he's a little behind in his expressive language. I think he'll catch up in the next few months, just as he's done with his eating and mobility. Like deeds1017 said, there's such a wide range of normal at this age. It does worry me when I compare him to other kids his age who are more verbal, but I just try not to do that, especially if the dr's not concerned about it.
Pedi isn't concerned. He sometimes copies me like when I go "dadadaaaaa" and we'll go back and forth for a little bit. That's about it though.
As long as your pedi isn't concerned I'd try not to worry. I know that's easier said than done. If he's copying you that's good. He's just on his own schedule.
Thanks ladies. Like you said, it's hard to not compare. He skipped crawling and went straight to walking at 9mo, so I guess I'm just expecting him to pick up everything else just as easy. Maybe he'll skip words and go straight to sentences.

He's going to wake up one morning and recite a whole book to you.
