Tagline Run-off poll- PLEASE VOTE HERE

Hiya everyone!

Here is the aforementioned tagline run-off poll. Please choose between our top two vote-getters in last week's poll to determine our final choice. 

This poll will run from now, midnight EST Sunday night, for 48 hours, to midnight EST Tuesday night. The results will show when the poll locks. Again, blame wordsy for this evil move. 

For reminders from the last poll:

As you are considering each option please note:

1. The tagline is not permanent and if it is not working as TCF grows, then we can change it. However, since the discussions became cyclical after much discussion, we think this list gives us great options, and it's time to narrow from this list.
2. It is not possible to make everyone happy, but our goal is to make sure that the majority of people are at least content. 
3. The font for the tagline will be determined after we choose the text. The length of the text informs the font choices, and we're finding the visual pushes the discussion off of the words themselves.

With all of the above in consideration, please vote for the tagline that you feel will be the BEST fit at this time.

Wow! Talk about a close one!
My 2 cents: I chose "A community for every story" because i dont like having the word "real" make up 50% of the tagline.
I also like the way "Then Comes Family.... a community for every story" sounds together.

"A community for every story" got my vote. It felt the most inclusive of all the boards.

I don't think "real life, real community" is saying ...anything at all.

I voted for "A community for every story" because it flows better with "Then Comes Family" and "Real life, real community" sounds so cliché as a tag line and is kind of harsh alongside TCF.

But thank you admins for being so open with this entire process and doing the best to be enclusive of the entire community. In the end the tag line won't change what a wonderful place this is to come together and lend hands and eyes to one another.

I voted for real life, real community but I can definitely see the other one working too. I won't be hurt if you go with a community for every story.

I didn't like "A community for every story," because it gives the impression that TCF is a collection of separate communities. This is true to a certain extent, but I really feel like we're all also a part of the bigger TCF community. I think coming to a website with a tagline implying separate communities is not the best way to introduce ourselves.

I do like "Real Life, Real Community" because I think what sets us apart the most from other similar websites is that we're not afraid to tell it like it is. There are other places with communities for all sorts of stories, so I don't think that's what makes us unique, and I don't think it's what the tagline should focus on.

Oh that's a good point. It looks like the poll was meant to lock at midnight not noon. Regardless. It was pretty much tied the entire time and we checked on it a LOT to see if the tie would shift. It was within 5 votes every time we checked. It's gotten to be almost comical at this point. We are polling the Focus Group right now to see their thoughts. If it's still tied then the admins will vote and hopefully between the 3 of us we'll have a solution.

I read "a community for every story" as being one big community for every story.
It feels like everyone is welcome to join the community to me.

I didnt read it as different communites at all.

Honestly, I feel like we are still missing what we really need. Neither of these really work to define us. I don't like either and voted as such. If something truly resonates with me, I'm all for it. I just feel like both of these are hollow and not the deep heartfelt description of who we are.

I agree with this. I liked the simple list of ttc, parenting, etc because it was a clear indication of what the community is about since the name isn't definitive. I also liked that it was in no way cutesy because I feel like a lot of other similar sites are over the top. But I realize we are kind of past that now.

We aren't stuck with whatever we choose. If the most amazing, perfect tagline ever shows up, then we'll just change it. It would probably take all of 10 minutes to change it up. For now though I want to get something settled so I can finish the new forum themes.

As someone who has worked in marketing... you could debate a tagline for the rest of your life. The majority of the time it's what you get used to and the branding behind it that makes a good tagline. "Just do it." Yeah that's brilliant (insert sarcasm here) - but we all know it, love it, and never think twice about it, because of Nike's extensive branding. I say go with the winner (even if it is just by a few votes) and get on with our lives. (I think this is why I no longer work in marketing... I couldn't say this stuff to a client.)
