@wickedcandy that sounds awful, no meds to take, or anything else to help?
Tylenol arthritis which does sweet fuck all. I can't take much because of my kidneys . Glad I have my kidney specialist appointment on Wed.
They took Tylenol Arthritis off the market in my area. Im limited with pain medication too. Extra strength tylenol just isn't enough Are you seeing a nephrologist or an endocrinologist?
I woke up feeling like I was going to vomit. I can't tell if I just didn't get enough sleep or if I never got over being sick. Ugh. I just want to stay in bed all day.
A friend of mine (Teacher) went with me to visit another friend. We saw some signs of neglect/abuse and she is mandated to report it. This would be the second time this friend has been reported.
Could I get some clarification? Is it the teacher is not reporting abuse in her students, or the teacher herself is being abused, or the teacher is abusing someone?
Seems like the teacher has seen and and has to report it even though she doesn't want to because the abuser is/was a friend.

I think none of the above. The teacher is mandated to report any signs of abuse she sees. Period. Whether the abuse is happening to her students or other children. The teacher went with OP to visit a different friend, saw signs of abuse, and reported the other friend (who I assume is the person that is no longer a friend). The teacher is not the problem.
Our office internet is down, and since I am 3k miles away from the office when the server is down I cant work! Good think I dont have that much to do today anyway.
I did do a phone screening for our new admin. This position really supports those of us that work remotely, so I am being such a picky bitch with my screening. I found one girl that I really like and no one else is stacking up to her. If she doesn't get the job I am going to be pissed!
This is why I hate being on some of the hiring committees at work. There is nothing like telling the VPs and President of the college why they are wrong in wanting to hire a candidate or that they need to have a more restricted presentation guideline for certain positions. Luckily with the upcoming separate incorporation I won't have to do those ever again.

I never get relief (any kind of pain) from Tylenol, I hope your specialist can give you some other options. Moist heat help at all? ::hugs:: to you, I hope it goes away soon.
+1. Tylenol is the worst.
Aleve is the only thing I can take that is OTC and does something. Not much, but it will take the edge off.

This is what I got from it too. Mandated reporter applies to all aspects, even when not at work. MH and I once encountered a domestic violence situation occuring on the side of the road, and we called the police and followed the car until the police showed up.

This is true. Mandated reporters are required to report any type of abuse/neglect that they observe, regardless of the setting or circumstances. The friend is putting themselves at risk to potentially lose their teaching license by not properly reporting.

Good almost afternoon ladies. I survived a long document review this morning and now have NO motivation to do anything. H kept snoring last night and as soon as he stopped, doog started.
I hope everyone's Mondays get a little less mondayish.

How does this work? I've never heard of it before. Is it all teachers?
Teachers, principals, guidance counselors, school nurses, almost everyone who works at a school, social workers, etc.
I only have 2 weeks left in my current position (which I hate) and it seems like everything that can go wrong is. Luckily they are training my replacement today or tomorrow which means I'll have less bullshit to deal with. Ugh I can't wait to start in my new department.
Also, I forgot my wallet today which means no coffee or lunch. Today might be the day I finally throat punch someone.

As far as i'm aware all teachers are considered mandated reporters. wanderingheart , you work in the school system. Do you know what the exact guidelines are? I only visit schools ob an as needed basis.
I am so ready to punch the douche-nozzle I work with. He's such a douchy douche.
Anyways! A friend called me friday to let me know she was pregnant (again) and was saying oh I told my husband I want to be pregnant with you! Yeah, I'd like to just get pregnant straight up, so please dont add any more pressure? mkay thanks.
The same thing happened to me as well. A friend of mine has decided we are getting pregnant together. She has also even gone far enough to tell me to put off trying until June, when she will be ready.

My SO has been sleeping on the couch lately because he likes to stay up and watch TV but I need my sleep so he doesn't want to come in late and wake me up (because I never fall back asleep). I've been sad he's spent so much time on the couch and missed him in bed... so he came in at 10 last night (I went to bed at 9). I DID manage to fall back asleep... for a bit. Then he started snoring. So at 12 I was awake and dozed in and out until my alarm went off at 4:45.
Now I remember why I like having the bed to myself. I actually sleep all night.
Also super annoyed because there's testing going on today so we're not allowed to use any "streaming" (ie pandora) and my silent classroom is driving me BONKERS right now.

@iliketurtles depending on your job, you could be a mandated reporter. If you work with kids, for instance. Doctors, teachers, counselors, firefighters...anyone in the "helping" profession. We are required by law to report any suspected abuse...meaning we don't need to have all the information to report.
If we don't report, we can face legal charges, based on the state. In my state, it's a misdemeanor to not report. I could be fined 1000 dollars or get 6 months jail, plus have my license revoked. It's serious business.
The ethics of mandated reporting seem pretty clear cut in relation to children. I work with college students and things can get a little dicier there. For example, if a student talks to be me about being raped, I have to report it, even if the student does not want to pursue action (this is because of an expansion in the application of title ix). I'm conflicted about it, because there is no possibility of sharing "in confidence," which I worry might just lead to less sharing in general in a way that might ultimately more harmful to the student who has been raped (or bullied, assaulted, etc.). On the other hand, not reporting can lead to more hostile environments and systemic issues...

We put a salary range in the job description as 35-40k, one of the applicants said in her cover letter: "per your request my salary range is 30-33k". We didn't request it, and that is up to 10k lower than what we offered! My boss thought that was a GOOD thing! I told him "no, that shows poor attention to detail that is potentially costing her 1/4 of her yearly salary, we don't want someone like that working for us." Thankfully he listened to me and she is off the list.

Yes, it's everyone employed by the district. My agency is separate from the district, so if something happens to one of my kids in the school, the teacher reports. However, if I'm made aware of it (either by the teacher calling me, parents, etc)then I have to report too, even though the school already did.
We always just have the motto of CYA. Cover your ass, people. I don't want the state to come down on me for failing to report.
Eta: when I say employed by district, this means janitors, lunch people....everyone.
Monday is dragging ass and everyone I talk to on the phone is an idiot.
We tried out our new pressure cooker last night and we had great results. We didn't set the timer long enough so we had to re-pressurize the food but it was delicious and so so fast!
You will have to share recipes! We got one for our wedding and haven't used it yet. MIL uses hers allll the time so I thought I would like one too.
I'll post it on here tonight when I get home, it came from an actual cookbook.
