Just a little background info, my office throws baby showers and bridal 'showers' for anyone having a baby or getting married (whether it's second, third, or whatever). Basically your group admin will send out an Outlook invitation and book a conference room at the office, there will be cake and soda, and a few people tend to pitch in for a bigger gift card than what the company budgets. There's no games and they generally last under an hour. None of my coworkers and I are particularly close and definitely don't see each other outside of work at all, people usually just attend these things for the free cake.
So anyways, I'm currently covering for a coworker while he's out on vacation and that means I monitor his emails. An email came in titled "Baby MyLastName". Thing is, I didn't change my last name when H and I got married but baby will have H's last name. H is coming to the shower and I know that it would hurt his ego (and I would feel awkward) if there was a banner or cake that said, "Welcome Baby MyLastName" instead of his. Is it rude to let one of my coworkers know that I accidentally saw that email and just wanted to give them a heads up that baby's name will actually be Gianna H'sLastName (not my last name)? People definitely know that I didn't change my last name but I don't think anyone knows what my H's last name is (to my point about not being friends outside of work with any of my coworkers).
