DS had a tongue tie that we had fixed. He also has mild torticollis that we are working on and seems to be resolving. But still, he compresses my left nipple so bad, even though the latch looks great from the outside. I can't feed for too long on that side and I get really bad vasospasm pain. It could still be his tongue, or it could be his jaw etc, given his torticollis. I am wondering if anyone has tried Cranio-sacral therapy or chiro for bad latches? I have tried football hold on that side and that helps a little bit but it's really hard and awkward for me. Also, he's a twin so that side doesn't really get a rest or time to heal. I have thought about just feeding them from one side each all of the time rather than switching.
I did CST with my daughter when she was about 8 weeks for some of the same reasons. She had a bad latch on my left side and my nipple was being creased which tipped off the LC. DD would nurse for 45 minutes at a time which was so long (and can be normal) so I was hoping that CST would improve the latch and shorten her nursing time. It is so hard for me to say whether the CST helped or not. Her nursing time did shorten but who knows if it would've happened anyway? That being said, I do think it did improve her latch but it wasn't an obvious change until I look at it retrospectively.
We did about 3 sessions before the therapist said she felt like things were improving. What I really liked about it is that the therapist was able to do evaluations of areas along the vertabrae (that align with the roof of the mouth) and was able to tell me what was "off". The biggest thing with my DD was that she was sucking up and down instead of more that circular suck. I liked that I was able to identify the issue and feel assured that we could adjust it.

We did a chiro for tort and a slight flat spot related to side favoring. This didn't affect breastfeeding but made car rides unbearable. It really helped us. I would say give it a shot. I wont lie I am a nurse and have always been a chiro sceptic but we had tried everything. Make sure you get someone with lots of PEDs experience. We went probably 8-10 times and everything was fixed.
