How to announce to the world?

Have any of you ladies given thought to how you will announce to the world (or just facebook?) This is our 3rd child, and we didn't really make a big deal about either of our first 2 on facebook, but I can't stop thinking about ideas for this baby. Anyone else giving it some thought?

Well, we already told our families. My aunt was on her death bed the day we confirmed our squinter so we immediately drove to Syracuse to break the news. We thought my grieving family would love a silver lining, and they did.

We'll be telling our close friends on Friday. It's my birthday and H had apparently planned me a surprise party at our favorite winery. If I'm not drinking at my own wine themed birthday then obviously something is up. And my two closest girlfriends; one has two kids already and they're planning to start for #3. The other I suspect is trying but hasn't opened up about it yet. They constantly ask us about kids. If I'm not drinking they will call me out immediately. H caved and told me about the party, so now we're flipping it around. No one else knows that I know right now, so we're going to surprise all of our friends with the announcement. It's super early, which makes me slightly nervous, but it's okay. I'm okay with it and really excited about the flipped surprise party we now get to throw.

As for FB and the rest of the world, I have no idea. H is super creative so I'm sure we'll come up with something fun. I just got this shirt today for myself so we can at least do cutesy pictures every week.

My husband and I each told our best friends (both have kids under the age of two and will be great sources of information when we have questions). Once we get into the second trimester we will do an announcement, most likely involving our dog with a big brother shirt on (if we can find/make one to fit him). We still haven't decided when or how to tell either set of parents yet.

we have told both sets of parents. I told my mom since she knew we were trying and she knows about the cp in Nov. I wanted to wait to tell DH parents because if something does happen they are awful at dealing with anything in life. I think we will do something with DD holding a sign about being promoted or only child expiring for social media. I love pinterest, they have soooo many great ideas.

I don't even know what this safety pin family thing is. I'm so out of the loop. My husband was the one with babies on the brain before we started trying, not me, lol.

My kids are totally into Mario Bros, so I created this one. I think this may be the official announcement in a few weeks!

And I won't lie...I'm pretty darn proud of this! :-)

In super nervous about announcing this early but we have family coming in town this weekend and I don't think I will be able to hide my lack of drinking. We have a winery trip scheduled Saturday with DHs family and mine so it would be nice to wait till then but I don't know how I'll keep the secret with my in laws at game night on Friday. Plus we see the entire extended family Sunday. I don't know if I'm ready to tell everyone yet. Too many decisions! Any advice ladies?

We haven't decided how we'll tell anyone yet and don't plan to until we are close to or hit 12 weeks. The hardest part is going to be hiding the lack of drinking. It's super suspicious of me to not have at least one or two drinks if it's around. Luckily there are only a few instances that we know alcohol will be around and for one of them I plan on emptying out a regular bottle of wine & filling it with non-alcoholic wine and bringing that with me. For another, we'll be at a restaurant/happy hour so I plan on getting there before anyone else and asking the waitress to please bring me the virgin version of whatever I order. Last weekend I poured a glass of wine, dumped it, and filled it with grape juice. Sorry to get off subject, but hopefully those are a few ideas for you NatalieDavid if you want to prolong the secret through the weekend!

Thank you southernredandwhite filling an empty bottle with something else is a really good idea. People would get super suspicious if I'm not drinking since I'm usually the lush of the group. I'm sure I'll break down and tell my parents and the in laws since that is my immediate family and I'll be too excited to hold back. But I'm with you otherwise wanting to wait till 12 weeks to spill the beans.

I have to say that I was really tempted to post something on Facebook yesterday because I knew that no one would believe me.

I'm too scared to tell anyone but immediate family until we hit at or close to 12 weeks. Because my family knew we were going through IVF, we didn't really have the option of surprise or waiting until we were ready. I'm looking forward to telling friends when I'm a little more comfortable.

As for Facebook, I might post our embryo pic (one benefit of IVF, I already have a pic of it!) and an ultrasound pic. Not sure. I have a few months to think it through though

I bought some cute picture frames that say "Sweet Baby" and will put an ultrasound pic in for the grandparents. Siblings I think we will just tell, nothing dramatic.

After the first tri when we tell the rest of the world my BFF and I are going to take a pic of a chalkboard saying "Current best friends" pointing to us and "Future best friends" pointing to our bellies and post it. She is pregnant too obviously I have an example, but can't figure out how to post from mobile

We actually have a mini-session scheduled with our photographer April 11th. So, I was like, Wow, it would be neat if we had some news to announce! So I'm going to have a chalkboard sign made for LO to hold that says "I'm going to be a BIG Brother- Dec 2015" or something to that effect and we'll hang on to it until the end of May or so.

To announce CBH, I just took a pic of all 3 dogs and then went into Paint on my computer and put a heading "NEW DUTIES COMING NOV 2013" and then each dog had a label "Bottle-Washer" "Diaper Changer" "Baby Sitter" and posted to Facebook. Everyone got it.

WE've bought parents little count-downs that will get mailed to them when we feel ready. my bro and sis are getting t-shirts with cute things on them. I'm seeing some friends on the 17th who will quickly have me figured out, other than that most will get some kind of e-mail/text once I've had my first appointment (still yet to be scheduled)

I have a new issue with telling work now. My boss asked me to come with him to a conference April 22n-23rd (7w2d), these conferences always involve cocktails, and I've been known to down a dirty martini or two...so is it better for me to tell him before we go, albiet a little early, or chance that he figures me out? The conference is a great opportunity to meet some of our collaborators and some of the people running a few projects that partially fund my position, so I'm not planning to opt-out of the conference.

gdaisy09, I'd just go and only say something if he asks. If it's that early and you aren't planning on being so forth coming about your pregnancy then I would just hold out and see if he says something first. Just my two cents though.

gdaisy09, I read here somewhere else (not sure who said it) you can say you are on meds that you can't drink while on them. Some antibiotics you can't drink.

gdaisy09, @littleliverpill, I went to a wedding about 3 hours after I got my BFP and I was able to avoid all suspicion by getting my own drinks at the bar and order sprite with lime in a rocks glass. I carried around a glass of champagne, but DH ended up drinking it for me.

My friend who is a bartender said she used to help out pregnant ladies all the time. They'd order a drink like a vodka soda, and then they'd go catch the server alone and tell her she's pregnant but not telling people yet, so to make it sprite with a lime and do the same all night if they order more. I was planning on doing this when going for drinks with friends next week, except the server is an aquaimtance and loudmouth.

Those who have been through this before, when did you finally start to show? This thread has me in planning mode, lol. I know it's a ways away yet, but I'm curious the earliest I might *have* to tell my work/others.

This was me about 13 weeks and then about 15/16 weeks, for reference. Once first tri was over things grew quickly!

Maybe you have the genetic disposition where you will have a tiny bump your whole pregnancy

Tiny bump or big bump, they'll notice. I just want to make sure I'm going to them with the news before chit chat starts happening. I guess we'll play it by ear.

tkford216, I was looking through my pregnancy journal from last time and I wrote my lower abs area was getting thicker around week 13, and that my belly popped week 15.
