+1 to this. I begged my parents to let me watch Arachnophobia when I was 5 and I said I'd be fine... Now, at 27, I can't even look at images of spiders and it makes me want to vomit/cry simultaneously when I see them. I even checked my bed for spiders for a while after the movie. No joke.

I get to go to a baby shower at work next week and I'm trying to decide what the heck to get off the registry or if I should just pitch in towards the big gift. I really don't know many people going to it, so it might be awkward. I just hate trying to figure out what would be the most useful when I don't even have kids.

I hate trying to figure out what to buy someone for a baby shower.  I try to avoid clothes and go with something a bit more practical.  I bought my sister the mattress for the crib at her shower last year.

OR you could be that awesome person that buys them tons of batteries of all sizes and a small screwdriver set. Between swings and toys, they'll need a ton of batteries.

I hate trying to figure out what to buy someone for a baby shower.  I try to avoid clothes and go with something a bit more practical.  I bought my sister the mattress for the crib at her shower last year.  

Thats how I feel about it.  The invite specifically said they had clothes and blankets.  It looks like the most needed items are sheets and sleep sacks on their list so I'll probably buy sheets.  BORING.  Also, they picked out an awful nursery bedding set.  DH even was like "WTF?"

It really is. No one wants to buy the boring stuff, so you get 8 million outfits and nothing that you actually need like bedding and receiving blankets.
