I think I did a quick update in Chat stew Monday after my general appointment: everything looked good on Monday and was basically similar to the week before, which was great.
Yesterday (Wed) I had a full day of imaging appointments lined up, just like when this wonderful adventure began! I was basically at the hospital from 8am - 3:30pm... loooong day.
Overall everything looked good and we're still doing well, lot of appointments are now lined up for the next 2 months.... that's the overview if you don't want to read my novel!
Details:
I had a Fetal MRI at 8:30 which got bumped back (yay again for not being able to eat first) because they had an emergency from the ER come in - I understand. But since they bumped me about 30-45min back, I got a voucher for free parking - WHOOP!
MRI started off bad. Even with a pillow under my knees, after about 20 minutes my back started killing me, and I started to get really flushed and uncomfortable all around. I told the guy I needed to move and he was like "just 10 more minutes"... UGH. Well then he got me out and basically said "all the images I've taken so far are crap." Great. Nugget was moving too much, and was in a really bad position, as well as chin to chest so they couldn't get any good views... So we did a round 2 after he let me stretch, and move around a bit...
Luckily 2nd round of images did better, and he said he got a good 10-12 images that were much better than the 1st round... I still don't have all of the final results from that since my doc tried, but they were still reviewing when she called. At the end of the day before I left, my doc hadn't had a chance to call back down and get the full results, so I should hopefully have more info later this week - at the latest she said we'd talk about it when I'm in the office again on Monday. What she could see (my doc) when she peeked, but warned "I don't read MRI's!" was 3 shunts hanging out in space right along the curve of baby's back. So we know that 3/5 of them are free-floaters now. The other 2 we're having the radiologist confirm for us.
Next I had an U/S - pretty basic, just like I always have... it went well and the numbers/volumes looked really good again and although a tiny bit larger than last week, very marginal. The fluid in the chest/tummy is nearly gone, there's very little left, so that's awesome.
I got a break for lunch, so I took a short walk in our beautiful (but ridiculously windy) weather to get food. When I got back it was time for the Fetal Echocardiogram (aka: basically an ultrasound but they use pretty color to look for blood flow and stuff too, for those who don't know). That went well and the cardiologist said it looks WAAAAAAY better than the last time they looked (um 2 months ago, when I first went to my doc, before she drained it and the mass was big and the heart looked like a pancake!).
He currently has no reason to believe there is anything abnormal about the heart in terms of development or function at this time. However, of course Nugget was chin-to-chest again and wasn't cooperating and moving for them, so he couldn't get a good view of the main artery feeding into the heart. Right now he's happy with things until baby is born, unless my MFM wants him to look at something beforehand, and wants to be sure we follow up with an echocardiogram after Nugget is born when it's much easier to get a good scan. Then he will feel better ruling things out for good. He just wants to be cautious, which I'm ok with.
So overall things went well... I was able to schedule out more appointments - and wouldn't you know my doc finally just said - lets' get you in here 2x a week because you're already doing that now! Basically we've gone 1 week between appts. twice (very early on) and both times it wasn't good. So now I have Monday/Thursday appts. scheduled until my due date (June 18th)!!
Thanks for reading this all, CHEERS!
